There will be a note in your child&#8217;s folder, Monday, explaining Seesaw.  We have just starting sharing items.  You will be notified as more items are added.  Please let me know what you think of Seesaw.<\/p>\n<p>This week in our class:<\/p>\n<p>Reading &#8212; The children will be reading Good-Fit books and working on their personal strategies.  The children should be bringing home books to read every night.<br \/>\n           2nd grade will be learning about Cinquains and 3rd grade will be learning about Myths.<br \/>\nWriting&#8211; Both grades are working on writing narrative stories.<br \/>\nSpelling&#8211; Words for both grade levels were listed in Friday&#8217;s blog post.  They are also written in your child&#8217;s planner.<br \/>\nMath&#8211;Both grade levels are working on place value, writing numbers in expanded notation and rounding.  There will be a quiz on Friday to check their understanding.  Throughout the year, we will be focusing on Math Fluency.  It is important that your child is fluent in their facts&#8211; addition, subtraction , multiplication, division.  There are many ways to practice this, with MobyMax being one way.<br \/>\nSocial Studies&#8211;2nd grade is comparing different communities (rural\/urban)  3rd grade is learning about specialized maps( vegetation\/highway).<br \/>\nScience&#8211; 2nd grade is learning about the scientific process.  They are learning to conduct experiments, observe and collect data.  3rd grade is learning about forces and motion.<\/p>\n<p>Also, I encourage you to use MobyMax with your children at home.  This program provides instruction at the child&#8217;s level in all subject areas.
