March is Reading Month is here. \u00a0We are beginning our month where the theme is Reading. \u00a0A calendar\u00a0March is Reading Month<\/a>\u00a0 will come home Monday. \u00a0 The kick-off is March 1 with Literacy Night from 6 p.m. -7 p.m. \u00a0The third grade will also be doing their concert that night. \u00a0They should be at the school in time to perform. \u00a0A note was sent home about this event.<\/p>\n

During March is Reading Month you may want to encourage your child to try reading different genres and authors. \u00a0Your local library can help, they usually have lists of books that are classics, as well as award winning. \u00a0It would be a good time to visit and check it out.<\/p>\n

Again, if you would like to be a guest reader this month, please contact me about a morning time or a time after 2:30. \u00a0We would love to have you come in a share a favorite book.<\/p>\n

The Book Fair is also up and running this week. \u00a0Our time to attend is March 2 at 9:00 a.m..<\/p>\n

In reading we will be looking at poetry, with our focus on acrostic and quatrain poems.<\/p>\n

Our Spelling words for Lesson 21 are: care, stare, fare, dare, bare, square, discourse, conflict, fraction, leader. \u00a0There will be an additional 5 cold words. The test will be Friday, March 4.<\/p>\n

We have completed our unit on Government in Social Studies. \u00a0The scores from the district test were sent home. \u00a0If you did not get it, please let me know. \u00a0Our focus now is on Public Discourse.<\/p>\n
