Strategy.<\/p>\n<p>R.A.C.E. is an an acronym for a simple writing strategy that can help students construct more thoughtful and thorough responses. This strategy can be modified to fit all grade levels.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how to help your students win at writing!<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. RESTATE<\/strong> \u2013 Students restate the question in the form of a topic sentence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. ANSWER<\/strong> \u2013 Students answer ALL parts of the question.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. CITE<\/strong> \u2013 Students cite examples from the text that support their answer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. EXPLAIN<\/strong> \u2013 Students explain how their evidence supports their answer or connects to another text.<\/p>\n<p>Our spelling is focused on \/ou\/. \u00a0The words are: found, cloud, pound, ground, count, mouse, house, ouch, science, multiply. \u00a0There will also be 5 cold words added to the list during the Friday test.<\/p>\n<p>The Social Studies test will be given online Wednesday, December 9. \u00a0Check the 3rd grade Social Studies page for a copy of the study guide and more information about the online test.<\/p>\n<p>The Student Lighthouse Team has organized a Food Drive for December 7-18. \u00a0See the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/philpor\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2015\/12\/Food-Drive.docx\">Food Drive<\/a>\u00a0flyer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We continue our work with Informational reading. \u00a0We will be beginning our work with writing reading constructed responses. \u00a0We will use the R.A.C.E.
