When the student can recognize and copy each trait, better writing is<br \/>\nthe result. There are six such traits for good writing: ideas, organization,<br \/>\nvoice, word choice, sentence fluency, and conventions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Clear message<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Focused on the topic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Information that is fresh and imaginative<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Helpful details that go beyond the obvious<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Details that paint a picture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Organization<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Use a hook or grabber to capture the reader&#8217;s attention<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Clear and organized<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Easy to follow<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Every supporting detail connects to the main idea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Interesting ending<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Voice<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Personality shines through<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Makes the topic come to life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Is appropriate to the audience,topic,purpose<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Word Choice<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Exciting uses of action verbs,descriptive adjectives, and precise nouns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Uses sensory descriptors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Minimal redundancy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Language that suits the topic, purpose and audience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sentence Fluency<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Rhythmic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Easy to read aloud<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0A variety of sentence lengths and types<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Use of transitions to flow from one point to another<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conventions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Correct spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar, and word usage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Correct tenses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Subject-verb agreement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Grammar Writing has certain characteristics or \u201ctraits\u201d in order to be a successful piece.
