OUR NEXT FUNDRAISER IS STARTING TODAY\u2013 Oakman School has partnered\u00a0up with\u00a0JDRF Kids For A Cure, please make donations big or small every bit helps!!!<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

What\u2019s 22 to 22?\u00a0\u00a0April 22-May 22<\/strong>\u2026.Our next fundraiser, that is!\u00a0 Each year our school chooses\u00a0 non-profit organizations that will help improve the livelihoods of many humans around the world and in our community. This year, with your help, we have raised thousands\u00a0of dollars towards many\u00a0 great causes.\u00a0 We will showcase all of our students\u00a0efforts on Thursday, April 26th\u00a0@ our Care to the Core event.<\/p>\n

Diabetes\u00a0is a disease that causes your pancreas to stop producing\u00a0insulin<\/strong>, a hormone that helps provide energy for your body. The cause for type 1\u00a0diabetes\u00a0is still unknown and there is\u00a0no cure.\u00a0<\/strong>This disease can lead to complications like blindness, kidney disease and heart disease.\u00a0 People with type 1\u00a0diabetes\u00a0must test their blood sugar several times a day and take multiple shots of insulin just to stay alive.<\/p>\n

Oakman School has partnered\u00a0up with\u00a0JDRF Kids For A Cure\u00a0(<\/strong>Juvenile\u00a0Diabetes\u00a0Research Foundation)\u00a0<\/strong>to begin a fundraiser at our school.\u00a0 There are two additional schools running the same fundraiser:) Our goal is to raise $500 dollars. The class that raises the most money will have a choice between a pizza party or an ice cream party .\u00a0 All students who donate will get a colored shoe and have their name written on it.\u00a0 You can display them on the wall across from the art room.\u00a0The top 5 students in the school\u00a0who raise the most money will get a prize from JDRF!<\/p>\n

On Monday April 22nd, we will have the fundraiser kickoff . A representative from JDRF will come in to\u00a0 talk about the fundraiser and tell our students a little bit about\u00a0diabetes. Again, the fundraiser\u00a0 will run\u00a0April 22nd -May 22nd. Look in folders TODAY for a parent letter that explains the fundraiser.<\/p>\n
