{"id":143,"date":"2020-05-20T06:02:51","date_gmt":"2020-05-20T10:02:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/palmerk\/?p=143"},"modified":"2020-05-20T06:02:52","modified_gmt":"2020-05-20T10:02:52","slug":"11-free-reading-comprehension-exercises-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/palmerk\/2020\/05\/20\/11-free-reading-comprehension-exercises-online\/","title":{"rendered":"11 Free Reading Comprehension Exercises Online"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>When students have difficulty comprehending what they\u2019re reading, not only could they have trouble in nearly every subject in school, but they miss out on the joy of exploring new worlds, traveling back in time, and solving mysteries alongside their peers.&nbsp;High-interest stories sometimes are&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/resilienteducator.com\/classroom-resources\/how-to-motivate-reluctant-readers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">motivating enough to read<\/a>, yet some students continue to struggle when it comes to reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the stats, unfortunately, show that reading scores could still use a boost.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/nationsreportcard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)<\/a>&nbsp;compared 2013 national reading scores with scores from 2015. The NAEP found that there was&nbsp;<em>not<\/em>&nbsp;a significant change at the 4th-grade level, and the average national reading score was 2 points&nbsp;<em>lower<\/em>&nbsp;at the 8th-grade level.
