Good morning! I hope everyone stayed warm yesterday.\u00a0 \u00a0This is going to be a cold week ahead.\u00a0 Please bundle up and dress for the weather, especially anyone that walks to school.\u00a0 Due to the short week last week, we are slightly behind with our testing.\u00a0 Therefore, I am planning on giving the NWEA math test Tuesday morning (today) and completing the many make-up tests on Wednesday.\u00a0 We will be back to our normal spelling this week, so expect new words and a test on Friday.\u00a0 We will start multiplication timed tests.\u00a0 We will start Tuesday with the zeros, ones, and twos.\u00a0 Students get one minute to complete 20 problems.\u00a0 They must get them all correct to move on to the next test.\u00a0 By the end of the year they need to know all facts up to 10.\u00a0 Practicing with flashcards for a few minutes each day is a great way to study the facts.\u00a0 Report cards went home on Friday.\u00a0 Please sign the envelope for card marking two and send back to school.\u00a0 You may keep the report card.\u00a0 Here is our plan for this week.<\/p>\n
Math:\u00a0 We are working on learning multiplication facts using the distributive and commutative properties.<\/p>\n
Science:\u00a0 We will be investigating condensation and exploring how it fits in with the water cycle.<\/p>\n
Social Studies:\u00a0 We will be learning how entrepreneurs use natural, capital, and human resources to manufacture goods.\u00a0 We will also explore the concepts of scarcity, choice, and opportunity cost.<\/p>\n
Reading:\u00a0 We will be describing characters and analyzing how their actions contribute to the sequence of events in a story.<\/p>\n
Writing:\u00a0 We will continue planning our opinion essays by adding more details to our planning sheet.<\/p>\n
