Monday: \u00a0Intro to Biochemisty<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students will discover what Blood Sugar is and how it is related to Carbohydrates – glucose. \u00a0The characteristics of Carbon: \u00a0bonding and its role in the formation of carbon will be focused on. \u00a0Reading below<\/p>\n

Tuesday<\/strong><\/p>\n

We will continue to discuss Glucose and the organic molecule it creates – carbohydrates. \u00a0Students will create a model of glucose. \u00a0They will then link them and model the process of dehydration synthesis and hydrolysis breaking them apart. \u00a0 concept map attached below<\/p>\n

Students will explore what proteins are today. \u00a0We will make a protein model by linking together amino acids. \u00a0We will study its structure and function<\/p>\n

Today we will continue with our study of organic molecules and make a concept map of Lipid. \u00a0We will read about lipids and discuss cholesterol and hormones in groups and share with a galley walk<\/p>\n

Students will use puzzles to make a DNA strand and RNA strand – we will learn the monomer that makes up this organic molecule. We will make a foldable \u00a0of all 4 major organic molecules<\/p>\n
