{"id":202,"date":"2020-03-14T11:29:57","date_gmt":"2020-03-14T15:29:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/noureds\/?p=202"},"modified":"2020-03-14T11:29:58","modified_gmt":"2020-03-14T15:29:58","slug":"science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/noureds\/2020\/03\/14\/science\/","title":{"rendered":"Science"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Assessments and assignments will be communicated via Google Classroom. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Science we are in the process of finishing  \u00a0<strong>\u201cUnit 3 Energy and Matter in Organisms.\u201d<\/strong>   The focus of this unit is explained below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the study of this unit, children will be prepared to complete the following Performance Expectations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0       \u00a0\u00a0Support an argument that plants get the materials they need for growth chiefly from air and water.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0      \u00a0Use models to describe that energy in animals\u2019 food (used for body repair, growth, motion, and to maintain body warmth) was once energy from the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As children work towards success with these Performance Expectations, they will learn about more than just science content. They will develop and use models; engage in argument from evidence; evaluate, obtain, and communicate information; and understand that science models, laws, mechanisms, and theories explain natural phenomena. They will also explore systems and the relationships between energy and matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To stay up to date with our progress, ask often about what\u2019s happening in science class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To extend the learning at home, activities you and your child can do together include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Visit a park or explore your backyard.
