Please plan on coming to the school either <strong>Tuesday or Wednesday<\/strong> (from 10:30-12:00) for&nbsp; a drive-thru meet and greet and to pick up some materials for your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please view the important information below on the methods we will use for&nbsp; communication, instruction, and&nbsp; a description of our resources. More information on all of these topics will be explained in depth as soon as we have been trained and begin using.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Until <strong>Schoology<\/strong> is up and running, please continue to follow my Blog or you can also visit the Haigh Website at: <a href=\"http:\/\/haigh.dearbornschools.org\/\">http:\/\/haigh.dearbornschools.org\/<\/a> (please subscribe to this blog, too). You will receive emails directly from Mr. Short.&nbsp;Haigh main office: 313-827-6200<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What to expect for the first week of school-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Drive Thru<\/strong> Meet &amp; Greet- <strong>Tuesday September 1st 10:30-12:00 a.m. (Coburn\/Robindale corner) OR Wednesday September 2nd- 10:30-12:00 <\/strong>(Coburn\/Robindale) Come meet your teacher and pick up language arts resources and math books that students will be using for the first few units of study.<\/li><li><strong>Zoom<\/strong> meetings where we will get to know each other.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Schoology is the platform we will be using for learning. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Zoom <\/strong>will be used to conduct live and recorded lessons.<\/li><li>Assignments will be a combination of at home participation to live lessons, small group and independent work.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Students will be expected to attend the live lessons. If unable to attend a live lesson, students will be expected to view the recorded lesson and complete assignment.<\/li><li>Attendance will be taken for each live lesson.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>ELA Block Description:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We will be using our newly adopted curriculum, Benchmark. This is a&nbsp; great new resource and is also available online for students and teachers. Stay tuned for student log-ins and passwords.<\/li><li>Science and Social Studies are included in this ELA block<\/li><li>ELA block is 90 minutes long<\/li><li>ELA block will provide a mini lesson, guided practice, independent work, and small group intervention groups through zoom and scheduled learning labs.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Haigh Habits<\/strong>-Monthly goals (see below)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Begin with the End in Mind-\u201dHave a Plan\u201d-September<\/li><li>Take Responsibility- \u201cOwn Your Choices\u201d-October<\/li><li>Prioritize- \u201cWork Hard Play Hard\u201d-November<\/li><li>Problem Solve- \u201cThink of Others\u201d- December<\/li><li>Be Respectful- \u201cListen, then Speak\u201d-January<\/li><li>Collaborate- \u201cWork with Others\u201d-February<\/li><li>Soaring toward Success- \u201cRead, Read, Read\u201d- March<\/li><li>Save the Planet- \u201cThink Global, Act Local\u201d-April<\/li><li>Strengthen your Roots- \u201cFind Balance in your Life\u201d-May<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>While this year is starting out a little bit different then expected, I am sure we can work together, help each other, and make it a year to remember.<\/strong>     Fondly, Mrs. Nardone<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello!
