Since March is National Reading Month, Haigh Elementary will be placing special emphasis on activities that promote reading as a fun and enjoyable experience. Our theme is: \u201c<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Peace, Love and Books<\/span>!<\/strong>\u201d \u00a0See the special calendar on the back of this letter for some wonderful reading activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every grade level has a minimum reading goal, which will be measured in minutes read per day at home (even during Spring Break) . \u00a0See below for suggested reading times for each day:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><b>K-1<\/b><b>st<\/b><b> Grade: 20 minutes per day<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><b>2<\/b><b>nd<\/b><b> -3<\/b><b>rd<\/b><b> Grade: at least 25-30 minutes per day<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><b>4<\/b><b>th<\/b><b> -5<\/b><b>th<\/b><b> Grade: at least 30-35 minutes per day<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your child will also have a Reading Log calendar to keep track of their minutes. Each child who returns their reading log by<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b> Tuesday, April 5<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will earn a special prize if they have reached their recommended reading goal for March.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are sure that you will agree that reading is important EVERY month!
