I am excited to get back to Unis to actually start the school year with all of you. \u00a0Don’t get me wrong, I had an excellent summer, but the last few weeks have been very unpleasant.

are on an amazing adventure, visiting a beautiful place that is new to you, minding your own business,when disaster strikes. You have\u00a0spent a wonderful morning\u00a0hiking in a canyon with unbelievable views. You are noticing the erosion and\u00a0rocks that Ms. Lancaster and Mrs. Simmons told you about all\u00a0last year. The wondrous landscape holds you captivated during a hike you never imagined trying.<\/p>\n
You decide to turn around with your friend to head back up the canyon because the path was getting a little treacherous. Near the top, you hit some loose gravel and both of you tumble down a tiny, but sharp, incline. The only problem is that you\u00a0hear a horrible crack in your ankle.<\/p>\n
Your friend tells you “Crying won’t help anything,” and you both try to hobble up the remaining path. This is a seemingly impossible task that is too painful to consider. Your friend leaves you sitting on a tree root that looks as though it was destined to be a ![\"IMG_47931\"](\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mstomasik\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/532\/2015\/09\/IMG_47931-225x300.jpg\")
chair while she calls for help. After what feels like hours, rescue paramedics come to care for you, wrapping your leg in a cast that they have to inflate with a silver industrial hand pump. You try to use the paramedics as crutches and hop up the endless trail, until another set of rescue workers arrive and help carry you to the waiting ambulance.<\/p>\n
The long and\u00a0tiring adventure didn’t end there. After another trip to the hospital and surgery, you have to sit and wait in a recliner at your grandma’s house while all the other cool kids go to school.<\/p>\n
I would much rather have spent the first\u00a0week getting to know all of the new students and catching up with all of the students I worked with last year.<\/p>\n
I cannot wait to start the 2015-2016 school year right…but please be gentle as I slowly move down the hall on my scooter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
