One last important reminder: The current card marking ends this FRIDAY, 3-27-20. I am still grading the last 2 projects that we did before leaving school and those grades will be posted by the end of this week. ANY MISSING WORK MUST BE EMAILED TO ME BY FRIDAY, 3-27. After that it will be a zero forever because that’s the end of this report card. My email:

I hope everyone is safe and doing well!

i-Learn & Grading **UPDATED: 3/18**

i-Learn Link:

I would like to clarify a few things regarding i-Learn assignments and grading:

UPDATE on i-Learn VIDEOS: I removed the video for this week because too many people are having trouble viewing it. I think the district still has YouTube blocked for students, so I will see if they can change that before next week. That means you only have 2 assignments to do this week by Friday at midnight!

UPDATE on i-Learn POWER POINT ASSIGNMENTS: If you see a red notice at the end of your slide show that says you “did not achieve pass grade”, PLEASE IGNORE THAT! As long as you answered all of the questions and got them correct then you are fine! I can see on my end that you completed it and that you received 100% and I will give you the full 10 formative points in the grade book. Thank you for being patient during this time!

UPDATE: ALL ASSIGNMENTS DONE ONLINE THROUGH i-LEARN SINCE SCHOOL CLOSED WILL NOT COUNT TOWARD YOUR CURRENT REPORT CARD GRADE. These assignments will count toward our next card marking which begins on March 30th, 2020. After 3-30-20, you will be able to see these new grades on student connect. Until then, just know that if you completed an assignment on i-Learn and answered all of the questions correctly, then you received the full 10 points. And as long as you complete all of the assignments, you will have an A+ when next card marking begins and grades start over. So keep up the good work! 🙂

ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments will be posted on i-Learn every Monday at 8:00 am and will be available until 11:59 pm on Friday. After midnight, those assignments will no longer be available and you will receive a zero if they are not complete.

Each week I will post 2-3 assignments. The assignments are posted along with detailed directions, so everyone should have an easy time understanding what to do. Once you have achieved 100% on each assignment then you are finished for the week. New assignments will be posted the next Monday. You have unlimited attempts to reach 100%, so don’t stress, just do your best!

GRADING: At the end of each week, I will check your assignments and post grades to the grade book. 100% completion of an assignment equals 10/10 formative points added to the grade book. Any assignments not completed by Friday at 11:59 pm (the week they are due) will receive a zero. THESE GRADES WILL NOT SHOW UP IN STUDENT CONNECT UNTIL OUR NEXT CARD MARKING BEINGS ON 3-30-20.

REMEMBER: I-Learn is not the same as Google Classroom. You will find I-Learn on our district’s main page or by using the link at the top. Use your regular school email and password to log-in.

NO NEED TO ENTER AN ENROLLMENT CODE!!! We used I-Learn to take our midterm exam, so everyone is already enrolled in my class. If you don’t see my class right away after logging in, scroll down and you will see it.

PROJECTS: If you haven’t shared your project with me already, whether it’s your “Place” project (researching a U.S. city) or our last project on “The 5 Themes of Geography” (researching a continent), please share it with me or email it to me as soon as you are done. I am still grading them– I will post the grades as soon as I’m done. This will be part of your report card grade so make sure you turn it in before March 27th! Share it with: Mandy Thomas

REPORT CARDS: This card marking will still end on March 27th as planned. Your grade will be based on what we did in class BEFORE school closed for the Coronavirus. That includes the last 2 projects we did in class. The online work we are doing now will go toward your next report card grade (card marking #4). If you have any missing work to turn in for our current card marking, please take a picture of your assignment and email the picture to me. Make sure you include your name when sending me an email please! ALL MISSING WORK IS DUE BY MARCH 27TH!

Online Learning Until 4-13-20

Hi everyone,

As directed by the state and our school district, Woodworth will be closed until April 13th due to the COVID-19 virus. During this time, teachers and students will switch to an online learning platform. For my students, that means we will be using I-Learn to complete our lessons for the next 3 weeks (as of now we still have April 6-10 off for spring break). I-Learn lessons will begin on Monday, March 16th. For the next 3 weeks, I will post a lesson every Monday at 8:00 am and it will be due on Friday at 11:59 pm. These lessons will include a combination of reading, slide shows, videos and/or assignments. You will be able to do each part of the lesson as many times as you need until you receive 100%. If the assignment requires you to write a response, then it will be graded by me after you turn it in. Just so you know, you are able to stop at any point during an I-Learn lesson, close it out, and continue it another time if you need a break. At midnight each Friday, that week’s lesson will close and you will no longer have access to it. Therefore, it is very important for you to spend approximately 30 minutes every day (or an hour every other day) to do the online lesson so that you are not trying to do it at the last minute. Remember, you are responsible for your own learning during this time, so make sure you are focused and taking it seriously because we will not be learning it again when schools restarts.

I-BLOG (teacher websites): I will be updating my blog regularly with lesson information and reminders, so please check it at least twice a week.

I-Learn: Students will need to login to I-Learn at least twice a week to complete the lesson and assignments for that week. I will post new assignments every Monday at 8:00 am and everything is due that Friday by 11:59 pm. All of you are already enrolled in my I-Learn class because we used it to take our midterm exam. Here is a link to Woodworth’s I-Learn classroom websites:

The code for my 6th grade Global Studies I-Learn course is rbem25, but all of you should already be enrolled because we’ve used it before.

Remind App: I will also be using the Remind app to communicate important information and to send reminders to students and parents. If any students or parents have yet to join my course on Remind, please be sure to do so as soon as possible. You can download the Remind app onto your phone for free. Once you have joined my course, any messages that I send will come through the app like a text message. THIS IS THE EASIEST AND FASTEST WAY TO GET AHOLD OF ME! I encourage students to use this method to contact me if they have any questions. Here is the enrollment code for my Remind course: 8f9d3h

This is still a developing situation, so myself and the district will keep everyone updated as we know more or if anything changes. Again, students are required to check my blog twice a week and complete ALL activities within the lesson by Friday at 11:59 pm. If anyone needs help during this time or if you have any questions or concerns, I’m only a few clicks away so don’t hesitate to ask me!

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time. I hope you and your families stay well! I’ll see you all in one month!

🙂 Ms. Thomas

Place Project & The 5 Themes of Geography Project

Over the last month, students worked with a partner on 2 projects: the first was to create a slide show presentation on an assigned city in the United States, the second was to create a project of your choosing about the 5 themes of geography on one continent. For both projects, students must make sure their slide show or poster follows the directions and rubric we went over in class. I have attached the project directions and the rubric for those who need it.

If you still need to turn in one of your projects, please share it with me or email it to me as soon as you are done. They MUST be turned in before MARCH 27th because that is when this card marking ends (after that it will be a zero forever). Share it with: Mandy Thomas

Place Project- Directions & RUBRIC:

5 Themes of Geography Project- RUBRIC:

5 Themes Project Directions:

  • Location: Find the absolute and relative location of your continent
  • Place: Give examples of 4 physical characteristics (specific names of landforms) and 4 human characteristics (specific languages or religions) found on your continent.
  • HEI: Give specific examples of how people DEPEND on the land around them on your continent, how people MODIFY the land on your continent, and how people ADAPT to the land on your continent.
  • Movement: Give specific examples of how/what things move on your continent (goods, people and ideas). For example, North America imports cars from Japan.
  • Region: Give examples of 3 regions on your continents (2 or more places with one thing in common). For example, Dearborn and Detroit are a region because they both speak English. Or Mississippi and Louisiana are a region because they share the Mississippi River.

Assignments for the week of 2-3-20 with UPDATED LINKS!

Hi everyone! I’m not sure why the links for all of these assignments didn’t work the first time, but I have fixed them now and everyone should be able to access them.

This week we are moving on to our last theme in the 5 themes of geography… PLACE! We started this theme out by watching a few videos about different countries in the world. Students then had to describe each place using physical and human characteristics. We are continuing the week by reading about the theme of place, doing a double bubble map and completing a CCR. Students are also writing a short essay (3 paragraphs) to describe Woodworth using the theme of place. I have attached everything students need to complete this week’s assignments, including directions for the essay. I GAVE EACH CLASS AN EXTRA DAY FOR THE ESSAY because of the amount of homework you have from all of your classes this week.

Essays are due on MONDAY(B day classes) and TUESDAY (A day classes)

Essays are worth 20 points (formative)

Essays must be neatly hand-written on pages 10-11 in your ISN

If you have any question just ask me!!!
