In our classroom we use the curriculum Handwriting Without Tears. In the image above you can see the language we use with the children to explain how to write each letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When using Handwriting Without Tears, we teach in a specific order that is helpful to their development. Always begin with the Capital letters because those are easier to distinguish. The first group of letters we teach are called Frog Jump Letters. These letters include F E D P B R N M. The next set of letters are Starting Corner Capitals. These letters include H K L U V W X Y Z. The final set of capital letters are called Center Starters and these letters include C O Q G S A I T J.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also suggest the following activities to do with your children at home to help develop their fine motor strength required for writing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building letters with dough<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creating letters with small snacks (like goldfish)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
