It’s<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>time for students to nominate their favorite Dearborn Public Schools teacher for the 201<\/span><\/span>9<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Alberta<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Muirhead<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Teacher of the Year<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Students\u2019 Choice<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Award, sponsored by the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce, and presented<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>by<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>LaFontaine<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Automotive Group.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>The<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>deadline for submitting applications is<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Friday, March<\/strong><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span>8<\/strong><\/span><\/span>, 201<\/strong><\/span><\/span>9<\/strong><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span>at 5 pm<\/strong><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Nominations forms can be found at the District website at<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>https:\/\/dearbornschools.org<\/a><\/u><\/span><\/span>.<\/u><\/span><\/span> An online nomination form is available at<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>https:\/\/bit.ly\/DbnTeacher2019<\/a><\/u><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Printed nomination forms may be picked up at any Dearborn public school and the<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>D<\/span><\/span>istrict\u2019s Administration Office, 18700<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Audette<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>They can be dropped off or mailed to the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce, 22100 Michigan Ave<\/span><\/span>.,<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Dearborn, MI 48124, or faxed to (313) 584-9818. Adults may assist students in completing nominations when necessary, but no more than two teachers can be nominated per student.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Students may nominate<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>any<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>new or veteran teachers whom they feel<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>has<\/span><\/span>made outstanding contributions to the teaching profession.  Pre-K through second grade students<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>are<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>asked to describe how their teacher makes learning fun.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Students in this category can include a nice drawing, if they wish, but it will not be part of the selection process.  Third through fifth<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>grade students must describe how their teacher has created a classroom where learning is positive and fun.  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNominating a teacher for this award is an outstanding way for students to show their teachers how much they appreciate and value the job they are doing in the classroom and the positive impact they have on their li<\/span><\/span>ves<\/span><\/span>. We have so many excellent teachers deserving of this recognition<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>and<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>I hope<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>many<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>of our students will take a few moments to nominate their favorite teacher,\u201d commented Dearborn Public Schools Superintendent<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Dr.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Glenn<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Maleyko<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Applications will be assessed on<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>the<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>quality of the nomination, not on the number received. Award judges are members of the Dearborn Chamber Education Committee and are not provided with the teachers\u2019 names.  One winner from each category will be announced at a special ceremony being held<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>at the Ford Community and Performing<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Arts Center on Thursday, April 2<\/span><\/span>5<\/span><\/span>, at 4:<\/span><\/span>30<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>p.m.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
