{"id":838,"date":"2015-02-09T08:34:10","date_gmt":"2015-02-09T13:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/msmohamed\/?p=838"},"modified":"2015-02-09T08:34:10","modified_gmt":"2015-02-09T13:34:10","slug":"week-of-february-9th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/msmohamed\/2015\/02\/09\/week-of-february-9th\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of February 9th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Reading:<\/strong> We will be reading several stories this week: <em><strong>Bus Stops, The park, Mouse needs a friend <\/strong><\/em>and\u00a0<strong><em>Fishing.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>All these stories connect to our unit of community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing<\/strong>: We will be creating a book called <strong>For You. <\/strong>We will create multiple pages in a heart shape of course!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Spelling words for this\u00a0week: you, for, kit, pit, sit, see, we<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Word family:<\/strong> -it (fit, sit, pit, kit, lit, wit, \u00a0bit, hit, split, quit<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math:\u00a0<\/strong>We will be exploring the penny and nickel. We will learn its value and how to count a group of them. We will also practice writing 1-100. We will play games using a 100&#8217;s chart. We will even find hidden pictures in the numbers chart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies:<\/strong> Presidents Day! We will review George Washington and meet Abraham Lincoln.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science:<\/strong> We will explore more land forms. We explored oceans, and \u00a0mountains. We even talked about volcanoes! We will explore valleys, rivers, lakes and plains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A couple of notes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Congratulations Kindergartners! We won a pizza party for selling the most pizza kits in the school! We will be celebrating on our Valentines day party.<\/li>\n<li>I sent home a special book bag with your child. \u00a0Please read and return this book bag every day. If your child does not have it, I can not change the book every 2 weeks. The purpose of re-reading familiar books is to work on\u00a0accuracy.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you read 20 min everyday and record it on the book log.<\/li>\n<li>Library day is every Wednesday. Make sure your child has the library book on that day to return and check out a new book.<\/li>\n<li>Spelling test is on Fridays. We will have a practice test on Thursday.<\/li>\n<li>We will be collecting Box Tops. Class that collects the most tops win something from the PTA. A letter was sent home last week with further details.<\/li>\n<li>There will be no school February 16-20 for mid winter break.
