Reading We will discuss Community Service workers and
\nfocus on answering comprehension questions from literature
\nand informational stories. We will also discuss the author\u2019s
\nrole, illustrator\u2019s role, title of a story. We will discuss main topic
\nof an informational story and recalling key details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Writing We are learning about opinion writing. We will write
about what community service person would you want to be
when you grow up. The sentence stem will be: When I grow up,
I want to be a ___. I can__ .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Language Arts Phonics: Letters Hh, Ii correct formation
\n(always start from the top and write down), the sound and
\nwords that begin with that sound; Phonemic Awareness:
\nSyllables, rhymes, beginning and ending sounds of a word,
\nSight word: go, to, it, has, come, we, and (review: I, can, see,
\nlike, the, a, look, at, in)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Math We will be counting numbers 0-50. We will also be
\ncounting by 10\u2019s to 100. We will learn about geometric flat
\nshapes (2-dimensional): circles, hexagons.We learn about
\npositional words: above, below, next to, in front of, beside,
\nbehind. We will also learn about solid shapes (3-dimensional):
\ncube, sphere, cone, cylinder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Social Studies We will learn about thing people need to
survive. This includes: air, shelter, water, food, clothes,
medicine etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanksgiving food drive- This year, Howard will participate in the Hype Athletics\u00a0Thanksgiving\u00a0Can Drive.\u00a0\u00a0Our can drive will begin Monday October 28th through Friday November 15th.\u00a0 They will come and pick up the boxes as they fill up.\u00a0 \u00a0Each classroom teacher will need to tally up their food that is collected.\u00a0 The class that collects the most can goods\/food items will earn a pizza party.\u00a0\u00a0 Thanks for your help! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
