I hope everyone enjoyed their restful break with family and friends! We are definitely all charged up and ready to learn \ud83d\ude42<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>New Unit:<\/strong> Animals: how they grow and change<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading<\/strong>: We will read a couple of books of common animals: Mama Cat and her three kittens; Lets go to the vet; 3 Little Kittens; Mama mouse and El Gato<\/p>\n<p>Strategy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sequence a story<\/li>\n<li>Respond to questions asked (comprehension)<\/li>\n<li>Retell a story<\/li>\n<li>How to ask questions about a story?<\/li>\n<li>How to answer your own question?<\/li>\n<li>How to relocate information from text?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sight words:<\/strong> has, red, yellow, blue; animal-bonus<\/p>\n<p><strong>Letters of the week:<\/strong> Ll, Oo<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing:<\/strong> We will be writing an opinion. Students will be expected to write what animal they like and why. The sentence stem to guide your child in writing is: I like ___. It has___.<\/p>\n<p>We will discuss:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>what type of skin they have<\/li>\n<li>how many legs<\/li>\n<li>where do they live<\/li>\n<li>what do they eat (carnivore:meat eater, herbivore:plant eater, omnivore: plant and meat eater)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An example includes: I like cats. It has soft fur. It has 4 legs. etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math:<\/strong> We will be learning about the order of events in our day and week. Its all about learning time but in a general sense. \u00a0Below are examples of what we are looking for in the speech and writing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A day would sound like: In the morning, we ____. In the afternoon, we___. In the evening, ____.<\/li>\n<li>A week would sound like: Yesterday, we___. Today, we ___. Tomorrow, we___.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will also be practicing to write 1-60 for those who are struggling. We will also review counting by 10&#8217;s to 100. We will practice counting by 5&#8217;s to 100.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science:<\/strong> We will review motion and how objects move based on their shapes. We will review 3d shapes and discuss their movement. Examples include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>cones roll in a circle<\/li>\n<li>cylinder roll straight on their side, but slide on the flat top\/bottom side<\/li>\n<li>pyramids, rectangular prisms, cubes slide on their flat sides.<\/li>\n<li>spheres roll<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Social Studies:<\/strong> We will present our timelines.
