Reading:<\/strong> We will be reading I know a lot, Water Changes, The Knee High Man and \u00a0The blind men and the Elephant. Its all about facts and description. Whenever you read with your child have your child describe what they see and \u00a0identify the real ideas (facts) that is occurring in the stories your read together.<\/p>\n C.A.F.E. Strategies: <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n Comprehension:<\/strong> Re-reading to get information<\/p>\n Accuracy:<\/strong> blending words to make sounds, Rhyme<\/p>\n Fluency:<\/strong> Long and short vowels<\/p>\n Expanding Vocabulary:<\/strong> Spacing between words, punctuation<\/p>\n Writing:<\/strong> We will be conducting the district writing prompt. Your child will be expected to write an informational piece on a topic. \u00a0Your child has been writing several informational pieces these past few weeks (flowers, beetles, sea creatures and dinosaurs) so they have practiced and I know they will do great. This will take a few days.<\/p>\n Spelling:<\/strong> with, my, pen, den, hen, men, then, when (and 2 cold words from the -en family)<\/p>\n Math:<\/strong> We will be working hard on the missing addend<\/strong>. It will look like this :<\/p>\n 3 +__= 8<\/p>\n 5 – __= 3<\/p>\n We will also continue to review adding and subtracting number problems within 15. It would look like this:<\/p>\n 13 +2=<\/p>\n It could be viewed as 10 +3+2= 15, always make a ten and add more to it!<\/p>\n Science:<\/strong> We are investigating solid, liquid and gases. We will also continue our documentation of our plants.<\/p>\n Social Studies:<\/strong> We are participating in Make Our School Green Campaign<\/em>. We will continue to collect soda pop cans \u00a0or bottles to be deposited.
