Literacy Unit:\u00a0\u00a0ANIMALS- <\/strong>Theme:\u00a0ANIMALS WE KNOW.<\/strong> What animal do you like best? \u00a0Why? \u00a0Would it make a good pet? \u00a0How does that animal move?<\/p>\n Reading:\u00a0<\/strong>We\u2019ll read a story titled\u00a0Mama Cat and Her Kittens.<\/p>\n Comprehension: <\/strong><\/em>READING STRATEGY-<\/strong> Recognizing Story Structure,\u00a0READING SKILL-<\/strong>Make and Confirm Predictions<\/p>\n Accuracy:<\/strong><\/em> Blending 3 sounds to together, identifying medial sounds, recognizing and producing rhyme<\/p>\n Fluency<\/em>:<\/strong> sight words and letters of the week<\/p>\n Expanding vocabulary:<\/strong> <\/em>spacing between words, and punctuation<\/p>\n WORDS-<\/strong>(Note: 3<\/strong>\u00a0words this week. \u00a0We will use these words in our writing this week.)<\/p>\n \u00a0 is \u00a0 \u00a0because \u00a0 animal<\/strong><\/p>\n LETTER<\/strong>–O \u00a0o<\/strong><\/p>\n MATH-<\/strong>Review Calculators, count by 5’s, 10’s and 1’s to 100. Write numbers 0-50, add and subtract fluently within 5 and patterns.<\/p>\n SCIENCE-<\/strong>Comparing and Contrasting\u00a0Animals<\/strong><\/p>\n How they look \u00a0 \u00a0What they eat \u00a0 \u00a0 How they move<\/p>\n Social Studies:<\/strong> \u00a0Timelines. We will create our own timelines. If you have not sent in a baby picture yet, please do so.<\/p>\n WRITING<\/strong>-Our district Writing Prompt will be in 3 weeks and the students will need to write an\u00a0Opinion Piece.<\/strong> \u00a0To help prepare for this, I will be asking for their\u00a0opinions<\/strong> on a multitude of topics. \u00a0They will then write a few of their opinions in sentences. \u00a0You can help with this at home. \u00a0Ask them questions, like \u201cWhat\u2019s your favorite cereal? \u00a0 WHY?\u201d \u00a0WHY<\/strong> is the opinion part of their answer. \u00a0They need give a reason (opinion) for their favorite cereal choice.<\/p>\n P.S. \u00a0\u201cbecause\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>is not a reason!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Welcome Back Everybody!
