{"id":1307,"date":"2015-11-17T10:14:37","date_gmt":"2015-11-17T15:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/msmohamed\/?p=1307"},"modified":"2015-11-17T10:15:57","modified_gmt":"2015-11-17T15:15:57","slug":"week-of-november-16th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/msmohamed\/2015\/11\/17\/week-of-november-16th\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of November 16th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Literacy Unit: Traveling Near and Far<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading:<\/strong>\u00a0We will be reading <em>On the Go\u00a0<\/em>(non-fiction), <em>Subway Train<\/em> (poem), <em>My Bike<\/em> (poem),<em> Timimoto<\/em> (fiction), <em>How a partridge got his canoe<\/em> (fiction).<i>\u00a0<\/i>We will continue to discuss forms of <strong>transportation<\/strong> and <strong>vehicles.\u00a0<\/strong>We will discuss places to go (<strong>travel<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Comprehension<\/strong>: Review\u00a0character and setting. Retelling the story (Beginning, middle, end) and asking and answering \u00a0questions<\/li>\n<li><strong>Accuracy:<\/strong>\u00a0Identify the first sound in a word and the last sound in a word<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fluency<\/strong>: Recognize upper\/lower case letters and sight words<\/li>\n<li><strong>Expanding Vocabulary:<\/strong>\u00a0Reading from left to right, Reading from top to bottom, Read from the left page and move to the right page. Know return sweep when reading \/writing a sentence, punctuation (period, question, exclamation mark), Author, Illustrator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Letter of the week:<\/strong>\u00a0Ii (review the previous letters learned) We will blend &#8220;i&#8221; and &#8220;t&#8221; to make the word it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sight word<\/strong>: Go (Review: I, can, we, the, like, a, see)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing:<\/strong>\u00a0We will continue to focus on space between the words. We will make a list of vehicle and categorize if they go on land, on water or in the air. We will also be able to write sentences independently using stems such as: \u00a0&#8220;We can go to the _(place)__. We can go by _(vehicle)_.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math:<\/strong>\u00a0We will be working on <em><strong>greater than, less than<\/strong><\/em> or<em> <strong>equal to<\/strong><\/em>. We will explore using measurement, using clues to identify numbers and review using a number line. We will also create a favorite color graph and identify the important parts of a graph such as a title, numbers and labels of a graph.\u00a0We will continue to practice counting 0-30. We will practice counting by 10&#8217;s to 100. We will also practice adding ad subtracting 1, 2 and 3 to any given number.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies:<\/strong> We\u00a0identify what is a good\u00a0and what is a service. A need are items we purchase and take home.
