Not only is this a fun art project, but it helps with developing fine motor skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Materials Needed:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Dried tube pasta (choose shape to meet your child\u2019s ability level)<\/li><li>Zip-lock bags<\/li><li>Colored food dyes of your choice<\/li><li>Optional: glitter<\/li><li>Cling wrap<\/li><li>Hand sanitizer (alcohol, no-wash type)<\/li><li>String<\/li><li>Scissors<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Part 1:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/msfontana\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3077\/2020\/05\/pppppp.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-363\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Pour some&nbsp;<strong>pasta<\/strong>&nbsp;into a bag (as much as you want to dye a certain color)<\/li><li>Add a few squirts of hand sanitizer (this helps make the color stick to the pasta)<\/li><li>Add a few drops of food dye<\/li><li>Optional: sprinkle in some glitter<\/li><li>Close bag and mix well until all&nbsp;<strong>pasta<\/strong>&nbsp;is the desired color<\/li><li>Lay out cling wrap flat on counter top.<\/li><li>Spread pasta flat over cling wrap to dry.<\/li><li>Leave to dry overnight.<\/li><li>Repeat as many times are you like with various colors of food-dye.<\/li><li>Children can help with the preparation of this activity. Ask them what colors they would like the pasta to be or what color you are using.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Part 2 (making the necklace):<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/msfontana\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3077\/2020\/05\/p2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-364\" width=\"416\" height=\"311\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Put all the dry colored pasta into a large bowl. (Your child may enjoy doing the pouring or just putting their hands through the pasta as a sensory activity.)<\/li><li>Take a length of string and cut to desired length (for use as a bracelet\/necklace\/crown). Remember that once string has pasta on it, it will become a bit shorter.<\/li><li>Ask your child to choose a piece of pasta and thread onto string. Wrap the string around the first piece of pasta and knot it to create a stopper, so the other pieces do not fall off the string.<\/li><li>Ask your child to thread the string through the pasta until the thread is full. As your child does this, take the opportunity to ask them about:<ul><li>How many pieces of pasta they think they will need and then count the pieces at the end to see how close they were. <\/li><li>Talk about the colors of pasta they are using and in what order \u2013 discuss patterns. <\/li><li>If you are using different types of pasta, take the opportunity to discuss the shapes of e.g.&nbsp; macaroni vs penne pasta \u2013 what do they resemble in real life?<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Tie a knot between the two ends of the string to create a necklace\/bracelet.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Please send pictures!
