Here are some pictures from our recent MSU Trip! What an amazing experience the A.V.I.D. kids had touring the campus and living like college students for the day! Dr. Underwood delivered a very moving motivational speech that really resonated with the students! SPARTANS WILL! Go Green! Go White! Thank you to all who made this trip possible!

Due Date Update

Posted by Anna Centi on September 28, 2017 in Blogs |

College Research Project

Posted by Anna Centi on September 22, 2017 in Blogs |

This week, the A.V.I.D students began working on a research project. With a partner, they will create a presentation on a college or University of their choosing. The slideshow is due September 29th on Google Classroom. Students will also create a pennant and write a letter (independently) to the college they chose.

Students will present these to the class once completed so that they gain some experience with presenting and so that we can all learn about the options available at different schools! We are thinking FUTURE!

District-Wide College Fair

There will be a District-Wide College Fair next week, September 19th from 6:00-7:30 at the Henry Ford Performing Arts Center! I would love for my students to attend! There will be lots of opportunities to learn about what their options are after high school – from University to Trade School and even the Armed Forces! Raffle tickets will be given to those who provide proof they attended. We will discuss this in class! Click the link below for the brochure and details on the event!

Got G.R.I.T.?

Posted by Anna Centi on September 6, 2017 in Blogs |

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! This week we will be getting back into the routine of the classroom and discussing, writing about and demonstrating our understanding of what it means to have G.R.I.T.

Let’s start the year strong with a fierce work ethic and a drive to succeed in all we do!

"Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals. Grit is having stamina. Grit is sticking with your future, day-in, day-out. Not just for the week, not just for the month, but for years. And working really hard to make that future a reality. Grit is living life like it’s a marathon, not a sprint."- Dr. Angela Lee Duckworth
