Some of our units will only take a week or two while other units may take over a month. Please feel free to email me or call with any questions about this course.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>January\/February Unit:<\/p>\n<p>This months unit is titled &#8220;Our place in space\u201d. We will be exploring outer space, the planets and our planet earth! Each week we will focus on one chapter. On Monday we will take a picture walk through the text and discuss as well as make predictions. We will also spend time working with the vocabulary word wall for that chapter and building students prior knowledge before reading the chapter. On Tuesday, we will read the chapter again and discuss and then complete a cloze activity comprehension check. On Wednesday, we will re-read the chapter and then take a quiz to check for overall understanding. Students will be asked to identify the main idea of the chapter, three supporting details as well as draw an inference based on the information read in the text. Finally, on Fridays we complete a Life Skills Application lesson which allows the students to practice what they learned and apply it to a real life situation. The chapters for this unit are as follows:<br \/>\nChapter 1: galaxy and space<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 2: Earth<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 3: The Sun<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 4: The Inner Planets<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 5: The Outer Planets<\/p>\n<p>Chapter 6: Our place in Space<\/p>\n<p>October\/November Unit:<\/p>\n<p>This months unit is titled &#8220;Middle School Science Fair&#8221; and will be exploring topics such as the scientific method and completing a science fair.\u00a0 Each week we will focus on one chapter.
