This Week’s Homework

The homework packet is brought home on Monday which includes all the homework listed below:

read 20 minutes, counting coins- math,  spelling triangles.

Tuesday

read 20 minutes,math story problems , 3x each- spelling

Wednesday

read 20 minutes,  spelling rhyming words, base ten blocks-math.

Thursday

read 20 minutes,  spell words out loud, study guide for test in math.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday

read 20 minutes.

This Week’s Focus

 

Our second grade students will be working and practicing these skills this week:

 

 

Reading:  Students will learn to recount stories, including fables and folktales from diverse cultures, and determine their central message, lesson, or moral.Image result for writing clipart

Writing: Students will learn to write narratives in which they recount a well‐elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.Math Clip Art for Teachers

Math:  Students will learn to understand that the three digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g. 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones.Science News | Clipart Panda - Free Clipart Images

Science:  After identifying three states of matter (solid, liquid, gas), students observe a variety of solid objects. After a period of free exploration, students describe properties of the objects and develop vocabulary in order to communicate their thinking about those properties.

Social Studies:  Students will learn about diversity, how governments keep people safe and how to solve problems in a community.

This Week’s Focus November 27th-December 1st

Reading:  Students will compare and contrast the most important points presented by two texts on the same topic.

Math:  Students will learn to tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m.
