{"id":157,"date":"2022-09-12T08:55:38","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T12:55:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsverrier\/?p=157"},"modified":"2022-09-12T08:55:38","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T12:55:38","slug":"important-information-please-read","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsverrier\/2022\/09\/12\/important-information-please-read\/","title":{"rendered":"Important Information- Please Read"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hello Families!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Welcome to the third week of 2nd Grade!&nbsp; This is going to be a very busy week for us.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What we are doing this week:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Begin NWEA and DRA Testing.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Continue practicing and learning our classroom procedures and routines.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>In Math, we will continue reviewing number bonds and adding 10s.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>In ELA, we will be reviewing short vowels, making connections with stories, and writing about what we are reading.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, I sent home work that we had been working on last week.&nbsp; If your child needed to complete some of their work, please send it in the Daily Folder on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Homework:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My goal is to send home meaningful work that will enhance the skills that we are learning during the school day.&nbsp; Homework should not last longer than 20 to 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Math Homework will be sent home Monday- Thursday. The math homework each night will directly relate to the math lesson that we completed that day.&nbsp; Your child will need to hand in their math homework the following day.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Math Homework will begin this week.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Word Work Homework will be sent home Monday- Thursday.&nbsp; The word work that I will send home will relate to our phonics skill each week (spelling words).<\/li><li>Reading Homework will be sent home Monday- Thursday. The reading homework will also relate to our phonics skill of the week. Reading homework will be differentiated to your child\u2019s specific needs.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Word Work and Reading Homework will begin after I have finished assessing students.&nbsp; I will also send a detailed description of what your child needs to do to complete the word work and reading homework that is being sent home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will send home all completed work on Fridays. Students should be using their time in school participating in whole group, small group, and independent work.&nbsp; If your child is not completing their work because they aren\u2019t using their time wisely, I will send it home to be completed that night and they should return it the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Specials:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday- Music<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuesday- Enrichment and Art<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday- Media<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday- Gym<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday- Music<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our class will begin Second Step on Mondays with our School Social Worker, Mrs. Mallory.&nbsp; Second Step is a program that takes a holistic approach to social-emotional learning (SEL) and brings compassion into the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reminder:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Friday, September 16th, is a half day.&nbsp; We will be dismissing at 12:05 pm.&nbsp; We will not have lunch at school on Friday, but we will still have snack.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Allergies:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know that some of my students have a food allergy.&nbsp; Some families have not let me know yet if their child is allergic to anything.&nbsp; On the back of the \u201cGetting to Know Your Child,\u201d there was a section about allergies.&nbsp; I do not think that some were aware there was a back side to that sheet.&nbsp; If you could please email ASAP and let me know if your child has any serious allergies that I need to be aware of.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We do have a nut allergy in our classroom.&nbsp; So please send in appropriate snacks and treats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a great week!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mrs. Verrier<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello Families!
