The children are learning about camping and practicing using transition words (first, next, then, last) to sequence events that happen when one goes camping. We are still working on completing the blueprint (graphic organizer). Next week, we will use these blueprints to help us complete our own books about camping. The children will be the author and the illustrator of their books! They will create the cover, title, write a introduction, tell the events as they happened (in order), and conclude the story. I am so excited to see how the children’s stories will turn out!

Spelling words for next week will be in the homework packet coming home on Monday.

Math: We took our -0 math quiz today. Today, I sent home the -1 flashcards for practice. We will take the -1 quiz on Friday, March 31st.

Please continue to practice counting by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s to 100 with your child at home. Also practice counting to 30 by 2’s (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20…..). Other activities you can practice at home are using tally marks to count objects, identifying 2D/3D shapes around the house of community, and really making sure your child has good one-to-one correspondence when counting (this means that they touch each object as they are counting and count all objects correctly).

Science: We are still learning about the basic needs of living things. This week we began comparing living and nonliving things.

Social Studies: We are still learning about maps. We completed a few activities about maps (how to get to school from home, following directions on a map using steps and north, south east, west). The children are really enjoying learning about maps and talking about countries around the world.

Housekeeping Items:

Children need a snack each day! Please do not send candy as a snack.
