I hope you have enjoyed the weekend with your family.<\/p>\n<p>Reminders for the week:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Book fair starts tomorrow and we will be visiting as a class in the morning. Students may bring money or browse. Book fair will be open all week and in the evening on both Wednesday and Thursday.<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday: Late start, school begins at 9:35<\/li>\n<li>Thursday: Savory foods fundraiser pickup at Haigh between 2:30-5:00<\/li>\n<li>Parent teacher conferences on Wednesday and Thursday after school; reminders have been sent out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This week we will continue to talk about non-fiction text features and begin learning about how to find the main idea in a non-fiction text. In writing we will work on comparing the upper and lower peninsula and composing our 5 paragraph essay.<\/p>\n<p>In math we will continue to focus on multiplication fluency and strategies. We will begin our week with a quiz on multiplication\/division word problems and focus on in\/out charts and word problems. Please encourage your child to practice for their math fact fluency tests that we take each afternoon. Ask your child what fact they are on.<\/p>\n<p>In social studies we will begin our unit on the history of Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>In science we will continue to work on magnets.<\/p>\n<p>Academic Vocabulary:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Conclusion- The end of a story or a writing.<\/li>\n<li>Heading- A title at the top of a text that tells what you will be reading about.<\/li>\n<li>History-The study of past events.<\/li>\n<li>Equation-A mathematical statement that has an equal sign. ex: 3 x 4 = 12<\/li>\n<li>Magnet-A piece of material that is able to attract certain metals.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Looking forward to meeting with many of you on Wednesday and Thursday evening to discuss your child&#8217;s progress.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good evening Haigh families.
