We have officially learned all the letters of the alphabet! \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spelling words to study for next week: <\/span><b>List 19: first, next, last, will, grin, crab, clip, shark, twig. \u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please practice the extra cold words, as there will be a cold word for number 10 on the test! \u00a0<\/span><b><i>Extra words: flat. \u00a0<\/i><\/b><b><i>Our 19th test will be Friday, May 18th.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"What Is a Blend? | br, cr, dr, fr | Writing &amp; Reading Skills for Kids | Phonics Song | Jack Hartmann\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pQgJnpE7IL8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>Writing: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In writing, we finished our star student book and are doing some informational writing about ocean animals! \u00a0We are finding facts about ocean animals to use in our writing. How fun!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Math<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: \u00a0We will continue to talk about subtraction and addition and greater than\/less than. We have a little bit of everything during our math workshop: greater than\/less than, count the room, smash it! subtraction, addition, missing numbers, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Math Quizzes:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We have a math quiz on Friday, May 18th on math facts -7! \u00a0Please make the flashcards at home for your child to help them prepare for their math quiz. For extra practice at home (instead of the flash cards), you could also use counters (or food) for a visual representation of the math equation for your child. You can also practice with your child by having them put the big number in their head and the small number on their hands and then count up. Try to make it fun! Thank you for supporting your child with their addition skills!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Science<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: For the months of April-June we will move into learning about the Ocean \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Ocean Projects: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are O-FISH-ALLY counting down the last days of school with an ocean themed project. The children will be choosing an ocean animal to research and will write an informational book with me in class. In addition to the book, we are asking each student to create a model of their sea creature. This part of the assignment will be done at home. This model can be made from paper or other materials, and may be 2D or 3D. \u00a0<\/span><b>Please send the completed model to school on Thursday, May 24th. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>**All families are invited to join us for a presentation of our sea creature models and informational books on Friday, June 1st \u00a0at 2:45pm.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This entire event will last 35 minutes. Please sign in at the office and then come to our classroom. This is a TOTAL victory! Way to go to my students and parents who worked so hard to ensure their child was successful for the Friday spelling test! \u00a0I will send the booklet home on Monday for you all to see how your child did:). <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember, to look over your child\u2019s spelling test booklet, sign on the line and return the booklet in the green folder the very next day (TUESDAY)! \u00a0It is imperative I receive them all back the next day!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Thank you!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Please note, all spelling and math tests will be counted for on your child&#8217;s report card. \u00a0It is imperative to continue to study with your child on a daily basis.
