Your child may choose to bring in a game from home or an electronic device to play on during the party. If your child does not have a game they want to bring to school, we have activities they may play with in class. If you do choose to send a game to school with your child, please label everything with your child\u2019s name. Small items are easily lost, please think about what would be an appropriate game to send in with your child, as they will be responsible for whatever they choose to bring to school. Please send one game to school with your child on Thursday, March 29th.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What we did during our week:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Language Arts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: We worked on -ad \u00a0words and onset and rime. We have officially learned all the letters of the alphabet! \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spelling words to study for next week: <\/span><b>List 13: did, what, mom, red, fed, wed, led, bed, sled. <\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please practice the extra cold -ed words, as there will be a cold word for number 10 on the test! \u00a0<\/span><b><i>Extra words: sped. \u00a0<\/i><\/b><b><i>Our 13th test will be Thursday, March 29th.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Word Family -ed | Phonics Song for Kids | Jack Hartmann\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hKWzFLe5HwM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>Writing: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In writing, we finished our star student book and are doing some more narrative \u00a0writing in March! The 4 main components of narrative writing are: It\u2019s written by the character, \u00a0it\u2019s written about real life events, it\u2019s written in sequential order: first, next and last and lastly, it\u2019s written with feelings. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Math<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: \u00a0We will continue to talk about subtraction and addition and greater than\/less than. We have a little bit of everything during our math workshop: greater than\/less than, count the room, smash it! subtraction, addition, missing numbers, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Math Quizzes:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We have a math quiz on Thursday, March 29th on math facts -1! \u00a0Please make the flashcards at home for your child to help them prepare for their math quiz. For extra practice at home (instead of the flash cards), you could also use counters (or food) for a visual representation of the math equation for your child. You can also practice with your child by having them put the big number in their head and the small number on their hands and then count up. Try to make it fun! Thank you for supporting your child with their addition skills!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-mpA-7VBfc5w\/VrJRBrAbowI\/AAAAAAAAKmA\/HrhBXVXCPPc\/s1600\/Minus%2BOne.png\" alt=\"Image result for minus 1\" width=\"259\" height=\"259\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Science<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: All 23 students were assessed on Arctic Animals\/Habitat. \u00a022 students scored an 80% or higher:) For the months of April-June we will move into Ocean Animals! \u00a0We are excited to start this unit!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Social Studies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: We are having fun learning about maps and drawing maps!\u00a0 In April we will learn about Civics and Government.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>March is Reading Month<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: \u00a0Your child came home with a \u201cPaws for Reading\u201d packet. \u00a0In this packet is a special calendar with all kinds of exciting reading activities you can do at home with your child! \u00a0Also, you will see a 2018 March Reading Log to keep track of your child\u2019s reading minutes at home. Each child who returns their reading log by <\/span><b>Wednesday, April 11th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will earn a special prize, if they have reached their recommended reading goal for the month. \u00a0The Kindergarten reading goal is <\/span><b>20 minutes per day.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">..I know we can do it! \u00a0Make sure to jot the minutes down on the reading log calendar and on the homework as well:) <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Other:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alessandra (Bianca\u2019s sister) Ms. Maria, Ms. This is a TOTAL victory! Way to go to my students and parents who worked so hard to ensure their child was successful for the Friday spelling test! \u00a0I will send the booklet home on Monday for you all to see how your child did:). <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember, to look over your child\u2019s spelling test booklet, sign on the line and return the booklet in the green folder the very next day (TUESDAY)! \u00a0It is imperative I receive them all back the next day!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Thank you!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Out of 21 students today, we had 21 students receive a 100% on their math quiz -0!\u00a0 \u00a0WOW!!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><b>If your child is not performing at 70% or above, I suggest making flash cards for your child to practice at home with<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! \u00a0Way to go to my 21 students. \u00a0I am so proud of you!!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Housekeeping items:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your child&#8217;s green folder is falling apart, please use some packaging tape to put the folder back together, or please purchase another green folder for you child. \u00a0Some folders are torn in half and is difficult to place work and or important notes in your child&#8217;s folder. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Gym Days (Thursday and Friday), please make sure to send your child to school in Gym Shoes! \u00a0Mr. Peecher will have the kids sit on the stage if they are not wearing appropriate gym attire. Your child\u2019s safety is our main priority. \u00a0Thank you!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Parents, I need your help! When you send in money for your child, whether it be for lunch, lunchroom snacks, field trip, please enclose the money in an ENVELOPE with your child\u2019s FIRST and LAST name on the front, indicate what the money is for and write my name as well: Mrs. Fillmore. \u00a0This will cause for less confusion for the lunch room and for the classroom. Thank you!<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please make sure to log onto math seeds and reading eggs when there is downtime at home, especially on the weekends!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0I have laminated and attached logins\/passwords for EACH child on their communication log this week! \u00a0Please keep this in a safe place, so it doesn\u2019t get lost. These programs are free for you to use, how awesome is that? \u00a0All you need to do is to show your child how to log in and they can begin learning! <\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><b><i>Parents, in the classroom, I am trying to teach each child to login typing their own username and password&#8230;independence is the name of the game! \u00a0\u00a0If you could be so kind, to help your child do the same at home, it would help so much! Buddies:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 Today we met with our reading buddies and it was a blast!\u00a0 The 4th graders prepared a &#8220;Baby Animals&#8221; power point presentation for their Kindergarten reading buddy.\u00a0 The Kinder kids learned real facts about their baby animal and then wrote an informational story about their animal!\u00a0 Ms. Cronin also bought the students &#8220;animal&#8221; crackers for each group to snack on!\u00a0 How did we get so lucky to have the best reading buddies in the world??\u00a0 I&#8217;m not really sure, but we do love our buddies and the time we get to
