We have officially learned all the letters of the alphabet! \u00a0Make sure to focus on these letters\/sounds at home to observe if your child has mastered each letter\/ sound that was taught in class. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spelling words to study for next week:\u00a0<\/span><b>List 6: like, see, my, if, and, fun, run, bun, sun <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Please practice the extra -un words, as there will be an extra bonus word for number 10 on the test! \u00a0<\/span><b><i>Extra words: spun. \u00a0<\/i><\/b><b><i>Our 6th test will be Thursday, February 1st.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Word Family -un | Phonics Song for Kids | Jack Hartmann\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nCF_zfflsD0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>Writing: \u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In writing, we finished our star student book! \u00a0\u00a0We are also learning how to use finger spaces in our sentences, write from left to right and using punctuation at the end of our sentences! \u00a0Please practice this at home when writing sentences with sight words!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Math:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We started our unit on addition and will continue addition into February! \u00a0\u00a0We have a little bit of everything during our math workshop: measurement, addition, counting, missing numbers, tally marks and one to one correspondence! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Math Quizzes:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We have a math quiz on Thursday, February 1st \u00a0on math facts +5! \u00a0Please make the flashcards at home for your child to help them prepare for their math quiz. For extra practice at home (instead of the flash cards), you could also use counters (or food) for a visual representation of the math equation for your child. You can also practice with your child by having them put the big number in their head and the small number on their hands and then count up. Try to make it fun! Thank you for supporting your child with their addition skills!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Science<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: We are focusing on Polar Climate this month! \u00a0We are having a lot of fun with this topic! \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Social Studies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We learning history~Who am I? \u00a0We had so much fun going over each of our timeline projects with our friends! \u00a0The reading log will now be located on the front cover of the homework!! \u00a0The reading log will look like a table. \u00a0All you will have to do, with your child, is have your child write the title of the book they read each day and color in a face if they liked the book or not. \u00a0If you have any questions about this, please ask me at anytime or email me:) \u00a0Thank you!!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Social Studies we are learning about \u201cWho am I?\u201d \u00a0A wonderful way to allow students to visually experience their own past is to create a TIMELINE PROJECT! <\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We had a great turnout for our spelling tests, but a lot of our students missed the cold word: chop.\u00a0 The purpose of the bonus word is to assess whether the children understand the word family pattern of each word ending in the same two letters -op.\u00a0 Please make sure to study the cold words, as well as well as the 9 spelling words at home:)\u00a0 \u00a0I will send the booklet home on Monday for you all to see how your child did:). \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember, to look over your child\u2019s spelling test booklet, sign on the line and return the booklet in the green folder the very next day (TUESDAY)! \u00a0It is imperative I receive them all back the next day!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Thank you!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The students did very well for their math test +4, only a handful missing 4 or more! \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><b>If your child is not performing at 70% or above, I suggest making flash cards for your child to practice at home with<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! \u00a0Way to go to my\u00a0 students. \u00a0I am so proud of you!!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Housekeeping items:*<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cover letter of the homework packet has changed!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0You will notice a different format when assisting your child in their homework<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For spelling words students are asked to only write 5 words in alphabetical order. \u00a0Next, \u00a0they will use each word in a sentence. \u00a0Third, they will draw a picture( in the box) to match the sentence and finally write a word that rhymes with each word<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The homework will consist of doing a worksheet each day along with reading a book and logging it onto the reading log. Please complete homework in its entirety. \u00a0If you have questions, refer to the cover sheet for directions and or additional concepts to work on at home. \u00a0If you have any questions, you can ask me at anytime. \u00a0Thank you for your cooperation!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you send your child to school with snow boots, please send in an extra pair of shoes your child can independently change into themselves.\u00a0 <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Gym Days (Thursday and Friday), please make sure to send your child to school in Gym Shoes! \u00a0Mr. Peecher will have the kids sit on the stage if they are not wearing appropriate gym attire. \u00a0Your child\u2019s safety is our main priority. \u00a0Thank you!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Parents, I need your help!
