For extra practice at home (instead of the flash cards), you could also use counters (or food) for a visual representation of the math equation for your child. You can also practice with your child by having them put the big number in their head and the small number on their hands and then count up. Try to make it fun! \u00a0<b style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TIMELINE PROJECT due <\/b><b>Tuesday<\/b><b style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, January 23rd<\/b>!\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait to see the finished product! \u00a0Also, I was asked by one of the students to create a timeline project, so I am busy at home gathering pictures and placing them on a poster board for the kids to see:)<a style=\"font-weight: 400;\" href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsfillmore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2429\/2018\/01\/FullSizeRender.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-425 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsfillmore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2429\/2018\/01\/FullSizeRender-300x156.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"452\" height=\"235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsfillmore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2429\/2018\/01\/FullSizeRender-300x156.jpg 300w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsfillmore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2429\/2018\/01\/FullSizeRender-768x399.jpg 768w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsfillmore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2429\/2018\/01\/FullSizeRender-1024x533.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsfillmore\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2429\/2018\/01\/FullSizeRender-442x230.jpg 442w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 452px) 100vw, 452px\" \/><\/a> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Reading Buddies:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will not have reading buddies again until February 9th due to testing and other scheduling issues. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>NWEA TESTING:<\/strong> We finished our reading standardized test and the students did an amazing job!!\u00a0 I have more than half of my students already reach their projected growth for the year&#8230;I am so pumped!\u00a0 This only means we work harder to get their scores even higher for the spring assessment!\u00a0 \u00a0About 90% of our students are half way to their goal or have already reached it.\u00a0 Something to be proud of!\u00a0 We will take our MATH NWEA test on January 29th!\u00a0 I will send the\u00a0 results home once every child has completed both tests:)<\/p>\n<p><b>Other:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>***ATTENTION: As you will notice on the homework next week, the reading log format has changed! \u00a0The reading log will now be located on the front cover of the homework!! \u00a0The reading log will be in a table format. \u00a0All you will have to do, with your child, is have your child write the title of the book they read each day and color in a face if they liked the book or not. \u00a0If you have any questions about this, please ask me at anytime or email me:) \u00a0Thank you!!<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Social Studies we are learning about \u201cWho am I?\u201d \u00a0A wonderful way to allow students to visually experience their own past is to create a TIMELINE PROJECT! This project will be completed at home with your child. \u00a0Please be creative and include pictures, drawings and short explanations of different times in your child\u2019s past. \u00a0This project should be done chronologically starting with birth and showing something from each year of their lives. \u00a0Some examples of events that will show their growth and development are as follows: holiday pictures, birthday pictures, sports pictures, first day of school, first time riding a bike, etc. It is best if this project is displayed horizontally (from left to right). \u00a0Please have fun with this project and talking with your child about memories from the years past. \u00a0<\/span><b>This Social Studies project is due on January 23rd!<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0I can\u2019t wait to see the timelines of each student and to discuss them in class:) \u00a0Please look at the latest blog post for timeline ideas:)<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Out of 21 students today, who took the spelling test, 16 received a 100% and 5 students only missed 1 to 2 \u00a0words!! \u00a0This is a TOTAL victory! \u00a0Way to go to my students and parents who worked so hard to ensure their child was successful for the Friday spelling test! \u00a0I will send the booklet home on Monday for you all to see how your child did:). \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember, to look over your child\u2019s spelling test booklet, sign on the line and return the booklet in the green folder the very next day (TUESDAY)! \u00a0It is imperative I receive them all back the next day!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Thank you!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Out of 22 students today, we had 13 students receive a 100% on their math quiz +3! \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><b>If your child is not performing at 70% or above, I suggest making flash cards for your child to practice at home with<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! \u00a0Way to go to my 13 students. \u00a0I am so proud of you!!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Housekeeping items:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cover letter of the homework packet has changed!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0You will notice a different format when assisting your child in their homework<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For spelling words students are asked to only write 5 words in alphabetical order. \u00a0Next, \u00a0they will use each word in a sentence. \u00a0Third, they will draw a picture( in the box) to match the sentence and finally write a word that rhymes with each word<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The homework will consist of doing a worksheet each day along with reading a book and logging it onto the reading log.
