{"id":228,"date":"2017-10-20T14:15:53","date_gmt":"2017-10-20T18:15:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsfillmore\/?p=228"},"modified":"2017-10-22T10:47:46","modified_gmt":"2017-10-22T14:47:46","slug":"newsletter-for-week-7-recap-and-new-info","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsfillmore\/2017\/10\/20\/newsletter-for-week-7-recap-and-new-info\/","title":{"rendered":"Newsletter for Week 7 (Recap and NEW info)!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>What we did during our week:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Language Arts and Writing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: We worked on recognizing and writing the l<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LWMED_3Nvig\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">etter F <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IF59Xs60uRM\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">letter U<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. These are the letters we have learned thus far: Aa, Bb, Cc, Dd, Ee, Ff and Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy and Zz. \u00a0Make sure to focus on these letters at home to observe if your child has mastered each letter that was taught in class. \u00a0Also, please make sure to go over LIST ONE for the sight word list; make it \u00a0a part of their homework routine:) \u00a0We have been having fun with sight words in the classroom! \u00a0We have also been learning how to subitize items in a ten frame or in tally marks! \u00a0This is the video we watched in class to help us with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dc2M3mCacz0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SUBITIZING<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\ud83d\ude42 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Science<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: We have been learning about push and pull and will soon do an experiment with magnets!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Social Studies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are still working on how to get along with others by using the words like, \u201cplease,\u201d \u201cthank you\u201d and using words to express their feelings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Halloween: \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Halloween is right around the corner and what an exciting time it is for our Kindergartners! \u00a0The costume parade will start promptly at 2:30p.m. \u00a0The students will walk around the school in their costumes; this is a great time to bring a camera and snap some pictures of the cute costumes! \u00a0Mr. Short has outlined the parade details on his blog post. \u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/haigh.dearbornschools.org\/2017\/10\/17\/halloween-parade-october-31st-230pm\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is where you can get the information.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As for costumes, I ask that you do not put your child in a costume they don\u2019t know how to get out of. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><b>Please practice, practice, practice \u00a0with your child how to properly take off and put on their costume to ensure no accidents will happen in the classroom.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Of course, we will do the best we can to help the students, but sometimes we can\u2019t get to the student fast enough, etc. \u00a0We also ask that you do not dress your child in scary costumes, bring any weapons and or masks. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also, if you would like to bring in one bag of wrapped candy or non edible treats for your child to pass out to his\/her friends, that is welcomed as well! \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have 23 friends in the classroom! <\/span><b><i>\u00a0I just ask all candy is gelatin free (NO pork products)<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! \u00a0With our celebration fund money we were able to purchase fun games for the kids to play during our halloween centers and also yummy treats for the kids to enjoy (yum, yum)! \u00a0Again, thank you for your donation to our fund! \u00a0I will make sure to post pictures, on our blog, of the day!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Housekeeping items:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you to the families who donated to our classroom fund celebration! \u00a0This money will be used to purchase items needed for our holiday celebrations and our end of the year party! \u00a0If you weren\u2019t able to send in the donation and would still like to, there is still time! \u00a0Thank you:)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New library books came home today! \u00a0Make sure to enjoy this book for next week\u2019s reading log and place back in book bag Friday morning:)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please read Halloween information located in this blog. \u00a0Thank you!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Upcoming Events:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>October 24th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; PBIS school wide bingo! \u00a0The students who have earned green this month, will participate in a fun game of bingo! \u00a0Encourage your child to stay on green everyday!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>October 26th- <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pumpkin Patch pick up (Thank you PTA)!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>October 27th- <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Savory Fundraising order form due today!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>October 31st-<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Halloween Parade at 2:30 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>November 1st<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Parent Teacher Conference Reminders will be sent home! \u00a0Be on the look out for your day and time!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>November 3rd<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Sight word test~ List ONE! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>November 3rd<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Star Student will start! \u00a0More information to follow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>November 7th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; NO SCHOOL!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>November 9th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Parent Teacher Conference Day (4-7pm). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I hope everyone enjoys the beautiful weather this weekend!\u00a0 See you all on Monday:)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What we did during our week: Language Arts and Writing: We worked on recognizing and writing the letter F and the letter U.
