Hello again! A new January reading log was placed in your child’s reading bag today:) You will notice that your child will have the same books in his\/her bags for the next few weeks. January is a BIG testing month in Kindergarten and I will be assessing each child on their independent reading level, testing them on NWEA, and many more assessments based in reading. Please be patient with me as I assess all 24 students. You may utilize Reading Eggs, RAZ-Kids, the weekly library book, and your child’s own books at home during this testing month. The expected time to read with your child is 10-15 minutes each day. Please make sure you are noting each time you read with your child on his\/her reading log. Also, please make sure you practice with your child how to retell a story from beginning, middle and end. I will be assessing your child’s comprehension skills as well.
