How awesome is that? \u00a0On <\/span><b>Wednesday, February 13th <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">your child may choose to dress up like an \u201cold\u201d person. \u00a0This could be be wearing pearls, glasses, rollers in hair, suspenders, old sweaters, gray hair, etc! \u00a0I love seeing the students interpretations of what it looks and feels like to be 100 years old:)\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><b>On Wednesday, February 13th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> your child will be immersed in fun 100th day activities to celebrate this wonderful accomplishment of being 100 days smarter! \u00a0We are so proud of our students and look forward to continue watching them grow academically! Happy 100 days to our students and families!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kindergarten Team<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ecdn.teacherspayteachers.com\/thumbitem\/100th-Day-of-School-T-Shirt-Transfer-FREEBIE-2313901-1486467500\/original-2313901-3.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for 100th day\" width=\"266\" height=\"206\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themomcreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_3780.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for dress up like 100 year old for 100th day of school\" width=\"182\" height=\"256\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>What we did during our week:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Language Arts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: We have officially learned ALL the letters and sounds of the alphabet! \u00a0Now, we will use our sounds to help us with reading and writing new words:) \u00a0Next week spelling test List #8: no, he, of, den, men, hen, pen, then <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bonus words to study at home:<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Ben, when. Make sure to practice the bonus word (10th word) at home for homework. \u00a0Our 8th spelling test will be on Thursday, February 14th.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Writing: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The month of February we will focus on informative writing by using the words, \u201ccan, have, are\u201d in our writing. \u00a0Please practice this strategy at home as well:)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Math<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: \u00a0This week we completed Module 4 Lessons 4-9. \u00a0Next week we will complete module 4 lessons 10-14. \u00a0Please make sure you are completing the homework lessons with your child each night. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Science<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The month of February we will focus on polar climate. \u00a0The students will become experts on polar animals and climate:) \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Social Studies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0For the month of February we will learn about maps!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Scholastic Reading Club<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Class Code &#8211; RKYTJ\u00a0<\/b><b>Order Due Date &#8211; \u00a02\/25\/19<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dear Families,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a friendly reminder that your Book Clubs orders are due by 2\/25\/19. You can place your orders online at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/scholastic.com\/readingclub\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">scholastic.com\/bookclubs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> using my class activation code: RKYTJ<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Happy Reading,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mrs. Fillmore<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Other:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am excited to report that out of 21 students who took the test, 15 students received a 100% \u00a0Woo hoo! I am so proud of each student who worked so hard all week to ensure they were successful on their test! \u00a0If your child received a 100%, they will write with a &#8220;smart&#8221; pen all day Monday and also participate in &#8220;NO shoes afternoon&#8221; on Monday as well:) \u00a0On Monday, once your child comes in from recess, they will be able to take their shoes off and relax for the last part of the day. <\/span><b>Please make sure your child knows how to independently take off and put on their shoes. \u00a0I appreciate your support in this matter! <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Also, make sure to wash your child&#8217;s socks as soon as they come home on Monday, they may be a little darker than normal;) \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please consider buying something from our Scholastic Book Club at: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/clubs.scholastic.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/clubs.scholastic.com\/<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Activation code: RKYTJ. The February date to order books will be Monday, February 25th.\u00a0 These books make a great gift for your child&#8217;s birthday as well:)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please make sure you are reviewing your child\u2019s classwork each night. \u00a0Monitoring your child\u2019s classwork is a great indicator of how your child is doing in the class. If for some reason your child doesn\u2019t finish his\/her classwork in class, I will send it home for homework to be completed at home and returned the next day. \u00a0Thank you for your support!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Please make sure you provide your child with a NUT FREE snack. \u00a0\u00a0We are a NUT FREE classroom. Thank you for your cooperation!<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hello Families!\u00a0 Our card exchange day will be on <\/span><b>Wednesday, February 13th.\u00a0 PLEASE NOTE: we now have 24 friends in the classroom!!\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0If you would like your child to participate, he\/she may bring in 24 Valentine cards to pass out to their friends. \u00a0<\/span><b>I ask that NO candy is brought into the class due to the several food allergies I have in the classroom: dairy, egg, all nuts, gluten, gelatin etc.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0The risk of one of our students with allergies coming in contact with something they may be allergic to, is a risk we will prevent at all costs. \u00a0If your child brings in a bag of anything edible, we will kindly place the item back in your child\u2019s backpack to enjoy at home. If you have any other questions you may email me, communicate on the Remind App with me, write on the\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0communication log or set up a time to discuss any matters you may have. \u00a0Thank you! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Housekeeping items:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>The cold\/winter season is upon us, which means cooler temperatures! \u00a0With cooler temperatures comes coats, boots, hats, scarves, gloves, etc. \u00a0It is important to teach your child how to properly put on a coat, zip up a coat, unzip the coat and take the coat off. \u00a0We have a handful of students who constantly need help putting on their coats etc, which means more time is taken away from recess because the teacher is zipping up 24 coats! \u00a0Also, please continue to practice tying shoes with your child. It is very hard to tie 2 pair of shoes X 24 students a day! That equals 48 shoes a day I would be tying, which would take up a lot of time during large and small group instruction. \u00a0We are encouraging students to become independent learners and with independence takes a lot of dedication and teaching your child at home.
