down on a &#8220;Can\/Have\/Are&#8221; chart, we labeled the parts of a turkey and finally completed our Thankful Turkey project.\u00a0 We have a lot of Thankful Turkeys in Room 42&lt;3<\/p>\n<p><a did during our week:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Language Arts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: We had a fun week learning about letters J &amp; Q. \u00a0We learned the letter name, words that start with each letter and the sound each letter makes. \u00a0Next week we will focus on letters and sounds learned thus far.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Learn The Letters and Their Sounds This mean that they should be pointing to each word as they read it. We are also working on reading words from left to right, using picture clues to help with \u201cunknown\u201d words, spotting sight words easily in text, stretching sounds out when coming to an unknown word and also retelling the story using the retell rope method! \u00a0Make sure to jot down your child\u2019s reading in the reading log each night! Please keep the library book in a safe place at home, or you can leave it in your child\u2019s backpack until the next check out. \u00a0Remember: Every monday is our library check out. Thank you!<\/b><\/li>\n<li>The cold\/winter season is upon us, which means cooler temperatures! \u00a0With cooler temperatures comes coats, boots, hats, scarves, gloves, etc. \u00a0It is important to teach your child how to properly put on a coat, zip up a coat, unzip the coat and take the coat off. \u00a0We have a handful of students who constantly need help putting on their coats etc, which means more time is taken away from recess because the teacher is zipping up 24 coats! \u00a0Also, please continue to practice tying shoes with your child. It is very hard to tie 2 pair of shoes X 24 students a day! That equals 48 shoes a day I would be tying, which would take up a lot of time during large and small group instruction. \u00a0We are encouraging students to become independent learners and with independence takes a lot of dedication and teaching your child at home.
