{"id":2355,"date":"2015-02-09T12:54:37","date_gmt":"2015-02-09T17:54:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsfarhat\/?p=2355"},"modified":"2015-02-09T14:54:59","modified_gmt":"2015-02-09T19:54:59","slug":"new-this-week-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/mrsfarhat\/2015\/02\/09\/new-this-week-2\/","title":{"rendered":"New This Week!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week, upper elementary students will be taking home an experiment to practice going through the scientific method. \u00a03rd, 4th, and 5th graders will take home the Gummy Bear Lab and bring their results back next week.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.biologycorner.com\/resources\/gummi.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"164\" height=\"157\" \/><\/p>\n<p>PROCEDURE<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0Label the two cups with the name of the liquid. \u00a0One cup must contain water. \u00a0Students can choose what they want to put in the other cup.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Place one gummy bear in each of the cups.<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0After two days, observe what is happening to the gummy bears. \u00a0Record your observations.<\/p>\n<p>4. \u00a0After two more days, observe your gummy bears again. \u00a0Record your observations.<\/p>\n<p>5. \u00a0Write down your conclusion. \u00a0Was your hypothesis correct? \u00a0What did you learn from the experiment? \u00a0What questions do you have now?<\/p>\n<p>Feel free to email me with any questions \u00a0<a href=\"farhatm@dearbornschools.org\">farhatm@dearbornschools.org <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Students can also email me pictures or videos of their experiments<\/p>\n<p>Our kindergarten classes are practicing numbers! Today, we counted dots on dominoes and matched them to the correct number. We tested different candies to see if they would sink or float.
