On Monday April 20, 2020, The Dearborn Public Schools (DPS) plans to begin the Remote Learning Plan<\/em><\/strong> for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.  Please follow this link to review the DPS plan:  Dearborn Public Schools Continuity of Learning Plan<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Card Marking Number Six students will receive two scores per week to determine their grade.  The two weekly grades will be for ENGAGEMENT and PARTICIPATION.  These will be explained later in this post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All lessons and assignments for Card Marking Five will not count for grading this semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I understand that students and staff have different schedules, availability, commitments and observances, as well as different levels of access to technology and levels of internet accessibility.  To accommodate and meet the needs of students, families and staff, grading for my classes will be based on the following conditions.  Google Hangouts, referred to under \u201cEngagement\u201d below, can be fulfilled by 2 email contacts per week, rather than a web based video hangout. Please email me if you have any questions or concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engagement:<\/strong> This is completed fulfilled by Google Hangouts or can be fulfilled by 2 separate email contacts per week. Questions count as an email contact. Make sure ALL<\/u><\/strong> of your emails<\/u><\/strong> include your name, your student number and the hour of your class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation:<\/strong>  This will be completed by submitting the appropriate work (weekly assignment). Assignments are due by 10am each Friday.  Make sure ALL<\/u><\/strong> of your emails<\/u><\/strong> include your name, your student number and the hour of your class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following schedule is from the Dearborn High School Remote Learning Plan:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mon\/Wed 1-1:40          1st Hour Hangout          Tues\/Th 1-1:40                  4th Hour Hangout<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mon\/Wed 1:40-2:20    2nd Hour Hangout          Tues\/Th 1:40-2:20            5th Hour Hangout<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mon\/Wed 2:20-3:00    3rd Hour Hangout           Tues\/Th 2:20-3:00            6th Hour Hangout<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For scheduled Hourly Hangout times, rather than a video hangout, I will use this time as office hours and be available to respond to emails through my district email at: gassm@dearbornschools.org<\/a>  Rather than having a question as part of a group hangout go unanswered, direct email will assure all questions are answered.  These emails also are part of the engagement aspect of the Remote Learning Plan. Make sure ALL<\/u><\/strong> of your emails<\/u><\/strong> include your name, your student number and the hour of your class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Week One assignment\/activities: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Week One Engagement:  Review Ch. 3 Vocabulary.  Read Ch. 3, Section 1, pages 52-59.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Week One Participation:  Submit by email a 3-5 sentence explanation of how a concept or vocabulary term from Ch. 3, Section 1 is affected by the current economic conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
