Hi Families,<\/p>\n

We have started our next unit in Social Studies, Unit 4: The Growth of Michigan. In this unit we focus on the economic growth of Michigan over time, and how the resources impacted the economy. To support this unit, the kids must pick a “Michigan Made Product” and do a research paper on it, make a poster board with pictures and product information and finally, present at our “Michigan Market Fair” in March.<\/p>\n

For those kids who have not made of list of 5 Michigan Made Products it was due today. They must have that list tomorrow for us to continue. I do not have duplicates in the Fair and I teach Ms. Cibasek’s class as well so the sooner they choose the better.<\/p>\n

We will be working on the writing assignment in my classroom and our focus is Information Writing. When we publish in school, this paper will be attached to their presentation board along with artifacts on their product (pamphlets, pictures, packaging, cost etc) in addition to the paper they will learn how to use index cards for a presentation. All of the specifics will be sent home I just wanted to inform you of what we are doing for the next month\u00a0 in school for writing and social studies.\u00a0 I need their list tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Suggestions: They will need to bring in this item to share (show and tell). It can be a food item but it does not have to be. For example if they chose Ford Motor Company they can share a picture or a model of the car or truck. If they have Fago (Howie already won that one) they will bring in a 2liter and mini cups for people to taste test.<\/p>\n

Again, making the list is vital for us to choose. You will be providing the Product and we will be having the fair for Upper Elementary only.<\/p>\n
