Welcome to Miss Vuichard\u2019s Class !! I have put together some information to try to answer questions that families frequently have regarding their child\u2019s new teacher and classroom. \u00a0Please let me know if you have any further questions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Remind<\/b><\/p>\n

Remind is one way that I like communicate information with families. \u00a0Please go to <\/span>https:\/\/www.remind.com\/join\/msvuic<\/b><\/a>\u00a0to join. You will receive text updates regarding assignments and important classroom information. \u00a0The attachment at the bottom of this page contains additional information. \u00a0Please let me know if you have any questions or need help joining.<\/span><\/p>\n

Planners<\/b><\/p>\n

Children are expected to neatly copy down daily homework, upcoming tests dates and projects in their planner. \u00a0<\/span>Please sign or initial your child\u2019s planner and ensure that it comes to school each day.<\/b> This is also an opportunity to write me a quick note if you have any questions. I am trying to encourage responsible behavior from the students. \u00a0Please make sure that your child has written assignments in each and every day. <\/span><\/p>\n

Owl Folder<\/b><\/p>\n

The owl folder comes to school everyday and goes home everyday. Please review your child\u2019s weekly work with them, taking time to go over achievements and areas that need improvement. Also, there will be important flyers from our school\u2019s PTA and other groups \u00a0in this folder. Make sure to read these flyers for upcoming events and reminders. This is a communication tool that I use and I appreciate your cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Daily Homework <\/b><\/p>\n

Pending Homework Expectations<\/span><\/p>\n

Assessments<\/b><\/p>\n

Students will usually be notified of tests at least one week before one is given. Students will record unit test dates in his\/her data folder. \u00a0Please encourage your child to review materials over a period of a few days so they do not feel overwhelmed prior to a test.<\/span><\/p>\n

Money<\/b><\/p>\n

If your child brings money to school, please be sure to put it in an envelope or plastic bag labeled with a <\/span>name, money amount, and purpose of the money<\/b>. \u00a0This helps me to avoid \u201cmystery money\u201d situations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Birthdays<\/b><\/p>\n

Birthdays will be a special day of celebration in Room 6. \u00a0If your child would like to pass a special treat to the class, please notified me at least a couple days before your child brings in treats. This will help me plan some \u00a0time in our schedule to celebrate your child’s birthday! Summer birthdays will be celebrated in June. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Snacks<\/b><\/p>\n

Your child should bring a snack each day. \u00a0We do not eat lunch until 12:00 pm. Please send in a healthy snack for your child. This could include: crackers, yogurt, veggies, fruit, popcorn, raisins or any dry cereal. I encourage your child to bring a reusable water bottle to school each day. <\/span><\/p>\n

Laptops for Room 6<\/b><\/p>\n

Our class is fortunate to have a cart of Chromebooks for the students to use. \u00a0We will be using these during the day for writing, math, research, and current events, as well many other activities. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Safe School Policy<\/b><\/p>\n

Please remember that all parents that enter Haigh Elementary School during school hours are required to report to the office first to obtain a visitor sticker. \u00a0Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our children safe. \u00a0If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Short in the office.<\/span><\/p>\n

Behavior Interventions<\/b><\/p>\n

Depending on the severity of behavior, students may be involved any of the following interventions:<\/span><\/p>\n

Review expectations with teacher.<\/span><\/p>\n

Conference with teacher to develop a plan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Removal from the group, phone call home, meet with principal.<\/span><\/p>\n
