{"id":164,"date":"2017-11-09T07:45:42","date_gmt":"2017-11-09T12:45:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/minierj\/?p=164"},"modified":"2017-11-09T07:45:42","modified_gmt":"2017-11-09T12:45:42","slug":"happy-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/minierj\/2017\/11\/09\/happy-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy November!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am looking forward to meeting with everyone for conferences.\u00a0 It is always a pleasure.\u00a0 Keep in mind that in 3rd grade we begin recording percentages.\u00a0 Dearborn&#8217;s report card scores as such: 95%-100% = 1, 80%-94% = 2, 70%-79% = 3, and 69% and below = 4.\u00a0 Many of the children will not receive 1&#8217;s &#8211; not by my standards &#8211; by Dearborn&#8217;s.\u00a0 To obtain a 95% and above consistently is not common.\u00a0 So, please be happy if your child receives 2&#8217;s.\u00a0 Praise them for the good work they are doing.<\/p>\n<p>Next, I apologize in my previous BLOG entry if I offended anyone by saying &#8220;I am not God.&#8221;.\u00a0 I tend to want to share pieces of myself and my personality in my BLOG so that you can get to know me but I realize that reading what someone wrote and hearing it are two different things.\u00a0 By saying that, I simply meant that I wish I could look down from above and know which student has a tummy ache, which student couldn&#8217;t sleep last night, or which student is afraid to ask a question.\u00a0 If they don&#8217;t tell me, I don&#8217;t know.\u00a0 \u00a0It would be wonderful to have the ability to &#8220;fix&#8221; everything.\u00a0 So, from now on, I will stick to the facts in my BLOG.<\/p>\n<p>Spelling- The week of Thanksgiving there will not be a test.\u00a0 We will be doing some word work with spelling words from previous lists.<\/p>\n<p>Daily 5- All students are reading their new chapter books.\u00a0 Groups are going well.\u00a0 We have some interesting discussions.\u00a0 They are responsible each night to keep up with their Daily 5 Chapter Activity Book.<\/p>\n<p>Writing- We will have an Opinion piece done by Thankgiving.\u00a0 Fingers crossed!<\/p>\n<p>Math- Unit 3 Test will be given before Thanksgiving on Line Plots, Measurement, Perimeter and Area.\u00a0 Unit 4 is Multiplication&#8230;get those flash cards out!<\/p>\n<p>Science- Weather is our next unit.
