{"id":146,"date":"2017-09-20T07:59:09","date_gmt":"2017-09-20T11:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/minierj\/?p=146"},"modified":"2017-09-20T07:59:09","modified_gmt":"2017-09-20T11:59:09","slug":"oh-boy-and-the-card-flips-begin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/minierj\/2017\/09\/20\/oh-boy-and-the-card-flips-begin\/","title":{"rendered":"Oh Boy, and the Card Flips Begin!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I want every parent to know that I believe I am a very fair teacher. \u00a0I have given the children 2 weeks to practice our rules\/routines\/procedures before changing their colors this week. \u00a0I was even giving them examples last week of when I would have changed a color (hoping that they would be ready to go this week). \u00a0I was surprised on Monday when I was correcting behaviors as much as I was but I continued to &#8220;give them a chance&#8221;. \u00a0YES, it is true, Tuesday I began to change colors. \u00a0I always give the kids a warning. \u00a0If they choose to continue those behaviors, I change their color. \u00a0There is a lot of talking, a lot of students having difficulty listening and following directions (I am repeating myself many times&#8230;soon I won&#8217;t be), some kids cannot remained focused and there are some silly behaviors. \u00a0All of this leads to distraction. \u00a0It either distracts the kids from doing their work or it distracts them when I am trying to teach. \u00a0This is the time I have to &#8220;train&#8221; my class so that in the upcoming months I won&#8217;t have to think about it. \u00a0Our class will run like a smooth oiled machine. \u00a0Right now, we are a little like a Model T&#8230;working out the kinks.
