Students will be writing as though they are characters in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Seedfolks<\/span> by Paul Fleischman. The narratives will be bound together in a wonderful book from <a href=\"https:\/\/studentreasures.com\/\">https:\/\/studentreasures.com\/<\/a>.  Students will include a picture that is either a self-portrait or a picture of their protagonist.  Please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/melvinj\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/657\/2019\/10\/1920-narrative-rubric-seedfolks.pdf\">planning paper<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/melvinj\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/657\/2019\/10\/seedfolks-chapter-planning-diagram.pdf\">rubric<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will also have our P.O.V. and Dialogue Quiz this Thursday, 10\/17\/19.  Students will be responsible for creating quiz questions on Monday, practicing dialogue in their homework on Tuesday, playing a review game on Wednesday, and taking the quiz Thursday.  They can also review by looking back at our <a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/melvinj\/2019\/10\/03\/point-of-view-and-dialogue-notes-quiz-10-17-19\/\">notes<\/a> or watching videos on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flocabulary.com\/unit\/point-of-view\/\">P.O.V.<\/a> or<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flocabulary.com\/unit\/quotation-marks\/\"> dialogue.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will also be working on a new Mentor Sentence this week, focused on dialogue and using specific, vivid words.  Students will be expected to complete 2 metacognitive logs each night Monday-Thursday this week as they read for 20 minutes each night.  Logs will be due Friday, 10\/18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Homework:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday: <strong>Read for 20 minutes and complete 2 metacognitive logs.  IXL.com 6.E.2 and 5.SS.4 will be due on Thursday morning.  Please complete both up to 90 by then for full credit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuesday: <strong> Dialogue Exercise due Wednesday.
