We have been having so much fun learning and playing! Please take time this week to double check you are getting the emails from our classroom blog. I post adorable pictures and classroom information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This week your child will be bringing home a permission slip for another field trip. We are going to the Real Life Farm May 10th! The field trip permission slip for high velocity was due last week. Please sign them and send them in ASAP. Parents are welcome to attend the field trip to High Velocity but need to drive themselves. We will not have extra room on the busses. Thank you!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Reading: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This week we will continue to practice the Three Ways to Read a Book as well as we practice asking and answering questions in informational texts. We will practice the following literacy skills:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifying letters and their sounds while writing the letters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifying blends at the beginning of words. (ex. st as in star and sl as in sleep)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Producing pairs of rhyming words. (ex. dish\/wish)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifying long vowels in words when super e is at the end. (ex. rope, kite)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reading emergent level texts and knowing where to begin reading on the page.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blending the beginning sound with the rime in words from the -ot family. (ex. hot, pot)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stretching for the sounds in three letter words and identifying the letter that makes the sounds in the beginning, middle, and end of the word..<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifying the sight words (one) and (come).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Counting syllables in words.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Please review: All upper and lowercase letters and practice writing them! Please review the following sight words: a, the, see, to, like, my, you, I, it, in, said, for, am, make, here, can, is, up, do, big, little, yes, have, jump, she, did, he, red, so, not, go, green, will, him, down, find, good, please<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Math: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will work on counting to 100 and recognizing\/writing numbers and their quantities 1 to 20. We will continue a new math unit on measurement. We will continue to work on using a scale to learn about what is heavy and what is light in terms of weight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Science:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We will continue a new science unit about Ecosystems. We will first discuss what living and non-living mean as we identify what makes something living. This week we are going to continue to take a look at plants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Social Studies: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0We will continue a unit called \u201cWhere am I\u201d. We will review position words such as up, down in, out, beside, in between. We are also working with a program called Second Step. This program helps us learn about rules, social skills, and how to handle our emotions. We will learn about how to handle when we feel when we are waiting. We practiced identifying the feeling, talking about it, and taking belly breaths. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Writing:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We will focus on Opinion Writing. We will write about our thoughts and feelings about a topic. We have been practicing using finger spaces between words in our writing. (ex. I like\u2026\u2026 because\u2026.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Homework Everyday:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Count to 100 by 1\u2019s and 10\u2019s. Write numbers 1-10.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use objects at home to practice hands on addition and subtraction up to 10.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read books for 15 minutes! <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write sight words in shaving cream or sand with parent supervision<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Practice letter formation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make and play a memory match game with sight words in cards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Play one math game and one ABC game on ABCya.com.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you for all you do!
