I hope you all enjoyed the weekend! I am excited for the exciting things we will be doing this week at school! <\/span><b>Please be sure to read for 15 minutes each day and record the titles and minutes read on the back of the Minion paper for our March is Reading Month reading contest.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday is Hat with Words day!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Tuesday is PJs day! <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday, your child can dress up in a costume as their favorite character! and it is a Late Start! School begins at 9:30!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Thursday is Crazy Hair Day and Kindergarten Round-Up at 9:30!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Friday is jersey day or wear green for St. Patrick&#8217;s Day!!!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Reading: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This week we will continue to practice the Three Ways to Read a Book as well as identifying the features of narrative stories. (ex, characters, setting, problem\/solution). We will practice the following literacy skills:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifying letters and their sounds while writing the letters. (ex. \/th\/, \/sh\/, \/ch\/)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Producing pairs of rhyming words. (ex. dish\/wish)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reading emergent level texts and knowing where to begin reading on the page.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blending the beginning sound with the rime in words from the -un family. (ex. fun, run)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stretching for the sounds in three letter words and identifying the letter that makes the sounds in the beginning, middle, and end of the word..<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifying the sight words (get) and (him).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identify the author and illustrator\u2019s roles in books<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Please review: All upper and lowercase letters and practice writing them! Please review the following sight words: a, the, see, to, like, my, you, I, it, in, said, for, am, make, here, can, is, up, do, big, little, yes, have, jump, she, did, he, red, so, not, go, green, will<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Math: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will work on counting to 100 and recognizing\/writing numbers and their quantities 1 to 20. \u00a0We will also practice finding the sums for addition problems up to 5. We will also continue learning about subtraction using objects. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Science:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We will continue a new science unit about Ecosystems. We will first discuss what living and non-living means as we talk about living things need.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Social Studies: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0We will continue a unit called \u201cWho am I?\u201d. We will continue to talk about ways we measure time in terms of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. We will also continue to talk about ways we can learn about the past. We are also working with a program called Second Step. This program helps us learn about rules, social skills, and how to handle our emotions. We will learn about how to handle when we feel disappointed. We practiced identifying the feeling, talking about it, and taking belly breaths. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Writing:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We will focus on Opinion Writing. We will write about our thoughts and feelings about a topic. We have been practicing using finger spaces between words in our writing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Homework Everyday:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Count to 100 by 1\u2019s and 10\u2019s. Write numbers 1-10.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use objects at home to practice hands on addition and subtraction up to 10.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read books for 15 minutes! <\/span><b>Record the title and minutes read on the back of the Minion paper.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Draw a picture and label the drawing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Practice letter formation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make and play a memory match game with sight words on cards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Play one math game and one ABC game on ABCya.com<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you for all you do!
