I am looking forward to another wonderful week with my super star students as we go on our first FIELD TRIP!!!!!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday is our field trip to the Fox Theater to see Sesame Street Live. The bus will leave Oakman around 9:15. Please have your child at school no later than 8:30 on this day!!! Also, I am encouraging the children to dress up for the show. Dress shoes will be fine to wear as long as there is no snow. I am so so so excited!!!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>*There is no school for Young 5s and Kindergarten on Friday!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Reading: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This week we will continue to practice the Three Ways to Read a Book as well as identifying question words as we ask questions about narrative literature. We will practice the following literacy skills:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifying letters and their sounds while writing the letters. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Producing pairs of rhyming words. (ex. frog\/log)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reading emergent level texts and knowing where to begin reading on the page.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blending the beginning sound with the rime in words from the -at family.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stretching for the sounds in three letter words and identifying the letter that makes the sound.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifying the sight words (jump) and (she).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Please review: All upper and lowercase letters! Please review the following sight words: a, the, see, to, like, my, you, I, it, in, said, for, am, make, here, can, is, up, do, big, little, yes, have<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Math: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will work on counting to 100 and recognizing\/writing numbers and their quantities 1 to 20. We will compare numbers up to 10. We will also practice finding the sums for addition problems up to 5.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Science:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We will talk about the different types of weather, (rainy, snowy, sunny, partly cloudy, and cloudy) We will record the day\u2019s weather on our weather graphs. In addition, we will identify characteristics of hazardous types of weather. (ex. tornados)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Social Studies: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0We will begin a unit called \u201cWho am I?\u201d. We will compare who we are with who are friends are by finging our who in our class has brothers, sisters, or none. We are also working with a program called Second Step. This program helps us learn about rules, social skills, and how to handle our emotions. We have been focusing on what to do when we have a strong feeling. We practiced identifying the feeling, talking about it, and taking belly breaths. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Writing:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We will work on personal narratives. We will use a BME (beginning, middle, end) organizer to help us write about our field trip. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Homework Everyday:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Count to 100 by 1\u2019s and 10\u2019s. Write numbers 1-10.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use the deck of cards I sent home to use two at a time to compare the numbers and identify which is greater (more). This is called \u201cTop-It\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read books for 15 minutes!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write first name and last name<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Draw a picture and label the drawing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Play one math game and one ABC game on ABCya.com\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you for all you do!
