Hello Families!!!<\/p>\n

Today was a marvelous Monday!!! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

We learned a new letter! We learned the letter Hh. We also were introduced to the Alphafriend, Hattie Horse! We sang her song and talked about words that begin with the sound of Hh.<\/p>\n

We also learned a new word! the word is see!!! We practiced spelling and finding this word in the morning message!<\/p>\n

We also are beginning a new personal narrative this week. We are still focusing on ideas. We are also focusing on trying to label our illustrations. We have been talking about writing conventions as well. We are working on putting an end mark at the end of our sentences. We have practiced identifying all three end marks. (. ! ?)<\/p>\n

We read the story, Just Shopping with my Mom, by Mercer Meyer. After reading this story, we turned and talked to our carpet buddy to tell them about a time we went shopping. We also used this book to practice identifying the setting of a story. The setting is where the story takes place or happens.<\/p>\n

In math we practiced recognizing numbers as well as counting the dots on a dice. Some of my students are beginning to subitize. (this is where they can look at the dots and automatically know the number represented) The students rolled a dice and had to find and color the number on their number monster mat.<\/p>\n

Also…and super duper important!!! We are participating with HYPE to help feed people in need in our community. Mr. Awada is inviting all of the Miller students, families, and staff to “Can the Principal”! This is a contest with a worthy cause to bring in at least 5,000 canned goods. Please consider helping our class be the ones who collect the most at Miller School! Please consider donating canned goods, such as soup, canned fruit, or canned vegetables. The winning class will get a pizza and ice cream party! But…better than that…we will know that we helped feed hungry people. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Don’t forget…we have a half day on Friday. Pick up is at 11:45.<\/p>\n

Oh….I asked the children to bring in a picture of something that begins with the letter H. I mentioned I was going to look in the Kroger ad for a picture of one of my favorite foods…hummus!! \ud83d\ude42 Another student said she was going to look for a picture of a hamburger.<\/p>\n

Please remember to make sure your child does not wear shorts to school now that the weather is super chilly in the morning. Please be sure to send them to school with a sweater or a jacket.<\/p>\n
