No experience necessary; all levels welcome to apply.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4>Workshop sessions will be held\u00a0<strong>every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.<\/strong>, followed by optional open studio time from 1 to 5 p.m.,\u00a0<strong>at the Dearborn City Hall Artspace Lofts<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n<h4>The workshop will be led by Palestinian graphic novelist\u00a0<strong>Leila Abdelrazaq<\/strong>\u00a0and Lebanese artist and designer\u00a0<strong>Aya Krisht<\/strong>, as part of Abdelrazaq\u2019s residency with the Arab American National Museum&#8217;s\u00a0Artists + Residents program.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Participants will create personal, autobiographical comics and self-publish them. They will then have the chance to sell copies of their comics at AANM&#8217;s second annual Book &amp; Print Fest in spring of 2019.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Selected participants will:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4>&#8211; Receive a $100 printing stipend to produce their work<\/h4>\n<h4>&#8211; Have the chance to share and sell their work at AANM\u2019s second annual Book &amp; Print Festival in the spring<\/h4>\n<h4>&#8211; Have access to Leila\u2019s studio space during open studio hours, as well as to Leila and Aya\u2019s comic and zine library, which will be housed in the studio<\/h4>\n<h4>&#8211; Give and receive feedback about their projects in an affirming learning environment<\/h4>\n<h4>&#8211; Experience the process of creating their own comic zine, from conception to completion and publication<\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h1>TO APPLY<\/h1>\n<h4><strong>Send the following materials via e-mail to leila@bigmouthcomix.com by Monday, Dec. 17, 2018:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4>&#8211; A short bio introducing yourself (no more than 150 words) and statement (no more than 300 words) explaining why you would like to participate in the workshop and your creative goals.<\/h4>\n<h4>&#8211; Up to five samples of your illustrated artwork (these don\u2019t have to be comics, they can be drawings of any kind, as long as they\u2019re your own).<\/h4>\n<h4>&#8211; Optional: You may choose to include a CV of related experiences or achievements if you have one, but it is not required.\u00a0 \u00a0Applicants will be notified of the decision by December 27.<\/h4>\n<h4>No prior experience is necessary! Inclusion of ethnic and religious minorities of the Middle East and North Africa, recent immigrants, and those without formal art training, who display talent and a commitment to their work in their applications, will be prioritized.
