{"id":2235,"date":"2019-12-20T15:14:40","date_gmt":"2019-12-20T20:14:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/majetic\/?p=2235"},"modified":"2020-01-06T13:56:44","modified_gmt":"2020-01-06T18:56:44","slug":"this-week-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/majetic\/2019\/12\/20\/this-week-11\/","title":{"rendered":"This Week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Classroom Events<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Happy New Year!<\/li><li>NWEA Testing will begin this week and run through Jan. 31st<\/li><li>4th Grade Energy Science Unit Assessment Thur., 1\/9<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Curriculum:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Math:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>5th Grade \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>Students will continue adding and subtracting fractions.<\/li><li><strong>4th Grade \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>Students will identify lines, line segments, rays, parallel and perpendicular lines, and angles.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Reading:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>4th Grade<\/strong> &#8211; Students will describe in depth a setting or event in a story using specific details from the text.<\/li><li><strong>5th Grade<\/strong> &#8211; Students will use character details from a literary text to find the theme of the text.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Writing \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em>We will finish up The Crane Wife PBW then begin an M-Step Field Test PBW that is to be determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Social Studies:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>4th Grade<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Students will be Geographers and continue to explore movement within and to the United States.<\/li><li><strong>5th Grade<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Students will be joining Mr. DeSantis\u2019 class for Social Studies this year.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Science:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>4th Grade \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong> We will review Energy and students will prepare to take a Unit Assessment.<\/li><li><strong>5th Grade \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>Students will be joining Ms. Sherlock\u2019s class for Science this year.&nbsp; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Spelling:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All classroom spelling lists, activities, and tests will be online this year.&nbsp; Students will be given spelling words on Monday each week and tested on Friday.&nbsp; &nbsp;Please see <a href=\"file:\/\/\/Users\/Majetic\/Downloads\/How%20to%20View%20Your%20Child's%20Grades%20in%20iLearn.pdf\">this document<\/a> to learn how to view your child&#8217;s grades.&nbsp; Students are expected to study their words at home each night.&nbsp; Here are some ideas on how to practice words with your child,&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/0ByxVs23M8tnnMDdhZjg4MDItZTdjOC00NmFmLWEwZTItYjdiMzcwN2M2OWY1\/view\">Spelling Practice Ideas<\/a><em>(please note, the directions on it do not apply).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Classroom Events Happy New Year!
