\ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Classroom Events<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>NWEA testing begins this week<\/li>\n<li>5th Grade T-Shirt Orders due by September 11th<\/li>\n<li>Open House is September 12th 6-7:30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><strong>Curriculum:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><em><strong>Math:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>5th Grade &#8211; <\/strong>Students will round decimals to any given place value using the vertical number line.<\/li>\n<li><strong>4th Grade &#8211; <\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Students will round multi-digit numbers to any given place value using the vertical number line.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Reading &#8211; <\/strong><\/em>Students will identify two or more main ideas in a text and explain how they are supported by the details in the text.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Writing &#8211; <\/strong><\/em>Our first writing assignment will focus on Narrative writing.\u00a0 Students will create their own story based on a Big Top Circus theme.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Social Studies:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>4th Grade<\/strong> &#8211; The first unit will focus on how the United States can be divided into different regions based on physical and human characteristics.<\/li>\n<li><strong>5th Grade<\/strong> &#8211; Students will be joining Mr. DeSantis&#8217; class for Social Studies this year.\u00a0 Their first unit of study will be an introduction to the Constitution and rights of citizens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Science:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>4th Grade &#8211; <\/strong>The first unit will focus on Energy.\u00a0 Students will learn how it is transferred, converted, and related to the speed of an object.<\/li>\n<li><strong>5th Grade &#8211; <\/strong>Students will be joining Ms. Sherlock&#8217;s class for Science this year.\u00a0 Their first unit of study will be the Structure and Properties of Matter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Spelling Words:<\/h4>\n<p>All classroom spelling lists, activities, and tests will be online this year.\u00a0 Students will be given spelling words on Monday each week and tested on Friday.\u00a0 \u00a0Please see <a href=\"file:\/\/\/Users\/Majetic\/Downloads\/How%20to%20View%20Your%20Child's%20Grades%20in%20iLearn.pdf\">this document<\/a> to learn how to view your child&#8217;s grades.\u00a0 Students are expected to study their words at home each night.\u00a0 Here are some ideas on how to practice words with your child,\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/0ByxVs23M8tnnMDdhZjg4MDItZTdjOC00NmFmLWEwZTItYjdiMzcwN2M2OWY1\/view\">Spelling Practice Ideas<\/a> \u00a0<em>(please note, the directions on it do not apply).\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This Week will be a weekly newsletter post that will highlight classroom events and curriculum.\u00a0 Look for this every Monday!
